Things you would love to say to your fellow nursing students!

Published

Along the lines of the first thread, "Things you would love to say to your nursing instructors" I thought this would be a great thread to start. I've since graduated LVN but there was one main thing I wanted to say to some students in my class.

Will you people in the back row please stop talking! I swear that today I can still hear their motormouths running! :chuckle

When I am in the RN bridge I will come back and post some more. I'm sure some of you have something to get off your chest. Come on and unload here! :)

I have not read all the posts, but I would love to tell a nursing student to work extra hard,. read as much about nursing as you can, and try to stay in bedside nursing as long as you can, as we need nurses to stay working in the hospitals!

1. I'm really enjoying going through this with you guys. It's great studying, commiserating, and goofing off with everyone.

2. If you were a '4.0' student, how are you unable to get above a 75 on the pharm exams. Does not studying and partying frequently have anything to do with it?

3. You know the 'more than one right answer' thing on tests? It sucks, but they aren't doing it out of perverse pleasure. That will show up on our NCLEX, and we need to be able to sort out and prioritize the information.

Oh I forgot one!

Don't tell me I can't make it because I have a full time job. Don't give me those "ooooh" looks of sympathy or judge me when you find out, either. You don't know me, or my capabilities. You also don't know that I get about 2 hours of studying a night at work. I'm doing just fine, thank you very much. You worry about you, and I'll worry about me.

And my newest one - when we're at the clinical sites, have some pride in your appearance and tuck in your damn shirt. I have no idea why it isn't stated in the dress code but that doesn't mean you should walk around looking like a bum. That so irks me LOL

I.... Don't think I have any of these complaints about my fellow students. I really love my class. There is only one person in the class that I don't really get along with, but I dont' want to say any of these thinkgs to her. I just feel bad that she is so immature and I find it hard to believe she made it to her fifties with such an attitude.

I do understand the theraputic side of getting it out though!!

I was told by some girl in my class that I had way too much time in my hands because I always complete the assignments on time, made my own study guides (which took me hours to make), and because I am always organized ***!! I have two babies and for you parents out there knows how hard even trying to read a page is. The reason why I stay on top of my game is 1) I make time to read (at night when babies are sleeping 2) I completely blocked out my social life and 3) I worked sooo hard to get this far and I'm not about to just eff it up! So yes it gets me angry when people assume that I have nothing better else to do!

Another thing, if you plan to join a study group please come prepared and don't waste everbody's time asking about material that you're responsible of knowing. Ugh makes me sick. There's so much more I can say....but it's SAD! :angryfire

Life isn't fair. Ever.

Seriously, just relax and enjoy this.

I love this thread!!! Okay it's my turn..........

1. Just because you've worked as a CNA in a nursing home for so many years already, does not automatically mean that you know everything there is to know about everything and have to prove your belief on a daily basis.

2. Also, to those CNA's now in nursing school... Don't put down those of us that went straight into nursing school without being a CNA first, and quit saying that we should have to do what CNA's do for a certain amount of time before we "earn" the right to be a nurse. This is our choice, you had yours.

3. Quit asking me what my test scores are if it ****** you off that the worst one so far is a 91%. I studied hard to get my score, and I don't need your rolling of the eyes and comments about being a "brain", or the ever popular, "What did you get, oh yeah I forgot you don't know what anything under an A is." Don't like it, don't ask.

4. After about a thousand warnings already, why in the hell are you still texting during the entire lecture, and then when you get done answering the text, asking the instructor to repeat what they said so you can write it down.

5. You don't have to brown-nose at clinicals by jumping up to volunteer for everything available. No one is buying the fake smile on your face as you jump up to pass water or wash bedpans.

6. We could all learn a lot from each other if some of it wasn't presented with such a know-it-all attitude.

7. And finally, when we do a review of the test after we've taken it, why oh why, must we argue EVERY question that you got wrong, and try to find evidence in the text books that you are right and the instructor is wrong so they can throw the question out? Face reality-- you don't know it all and you are sometimes wrong.

Oh, I feel so much better now. Thanks!!!

alright I can add to it now.

it's really only one person in my class that really gets to me.

1) Please don't come to class in the mood to argue, just because someone sat in your seat (first off, when did seats have names on them?) don't get all mad and make a big deal about it.

2) Please do not ask the teacher to repeat what they say every two minutes. If you would stop talking during class and adding your own commentary, then things would move smoothly.

3) Please choose a seat where you can sit down for the entire lecture. It is very distracting to see you stand up and walk down the middle of the aisle every five minutes during lecture.

4) Please do not start a fight in the middle of class, I know he told you to shut up and that was disrespectful, but don't interrupt the whole class and the lecture because of it. Talk about it with that person during break.

Finally, it is fine to ask questions and ask the teacher to repeat something every so often, but please refrain from doing so every thirty seconds. The answer is usually on the powerpoint they are showing and that are in your notes, so please look at those before you ask.

I feel better.

Amen to this one!!!!

I have something positive to add :D

To my classmates that didn't pass their skills test today - chin up! You guys know the material, you just need to take a deep breath and show our instructor that

Despite my gripes, I can honestly say I've found a core of great, supportive classmates. If I have questions about something, I know I can ask and 5 different people will chime in. If someoen struggles with something I've grasped, I don't hestitate to help them. It's a pretty awesome feeling. I wish we could stay in the same sections next term!

On a positive note:

1. Thanks for all the rides! Ever since my car was totalled (and of course, I can't afford a new one because I'm in nursing school!) you have all shown what caring and compassionate people you are.

2. Thanks for all the pep talks. Wouldn't have been able to make it this far without you!!

3. Thanks for helping me move that patient 300 lb. patient with dignity.

4. Thanks for the laughter, encouragement, and getaways when we had a rare day off!

5. You are going to be such a wonderful nurse! You're intelligent, compassionate, and hard working!

On a negative note:

1. If I hear you say, "Well, in the book..." one more time, I'm going to have a coronary. I realize the book is important, but it is aggrevating when you use it to debate every single question you got wrong on the test

2. Stop sucking up so much. People see right through you. We are here to learn, not kiss ***.

3. Just because you have a higher average than me, doesn't mean you will be a better nurse than me!

4. Why are you here?

Great thread guys! :D

3. I'm really scared that you got this far in the program.
