Hey all,
I'm taking the Nclex tomorrow, and studying/reviewing last minute things. I jumped on allnurses for a bit of a break.
So here's my question.. What is the theme song to your nursing career?

Jem- It's Amazing
"Patience, now frustrations in the air
And people who don't care
Well, it's gonna get you down
And you'll fall, yes you will hit a wall
But get back on your feet
And you'll be stronger and smarter
And I know cause Ive been there before
Knocking down the doors, won't take no for an answer
And you'll see cause if it's meant to be
Nothing can compare to deserving your dream"

This past week of my externship, it's been "Another One Bites the Dust". There's a hospital here that plays "lullaby" on the overhead speakers each time a baby is born in the hospital, I think they should play "another one bites the dust" each time a patient passes as well; otherwise, it'd just be unfair!

I have been saying this same thing for years...but others say it's insensitive.

This is sort of off-topic but every time I spike a bag of Levophed I sing "Levon" by Elton John in my head all night. I'm in the MICU, so that song is in my head quite often!
My positive work song is "Brass in Pocket," but the flip side would be "Alone Again, Naturally."

I don't have a theme song, I have a soundtrack.

The first song that occurred to me was Royals by Lorde because no matter how hard we nurses try, we will never be royals, just the important people behind the scenes!
Another song that also came to mind is 'Unsung' by Helmet; even though I am not an avid hard rock listener, this song 'Unsung' is also appropriate. The 1st few lines- "Your contribution left unnoticed, some association with an image. Just credit time for showing up again..."

It used to be "Tainted Love" by Soft Cell. C'mon.....sing it in your mind....those little beep beeps at the beginning remind me of a vitals machine/IV pump/bed alarm. Then he sings, "Sometimes I feel I want to (beep beep) get away. I want to (beep beep) run away...." I always thought that song would make a great youtube video (change the words to a medical theme).
Now, I usually think of songs that have eyes in them:
Eye of the tiger
Betty Davis eyes
I only have eyes for you (to name a few)
I thought about putting together a mix tape of these types of songs and play it in the area where we work and see if anyone notices.
