This may have been done before but I would like to hear about some off the wall orders you've seen MD's write...

Here are a couple from me...

Give 2mg Coumadin qd and prn :uhoh21:

Zantac 150mg q6hours and prn

hi.

I had a doctor write an order to shut off the lights in the room. Hi walked right by the switch. He was a resident and after a little discussion I hope he never writes another order like that

Ladies (and gentlemen, too I presume)- I'm a DNS at a skilled facility. I've been in the building for 8 days and today had the DPH come in on a complaint survey. This post has restored my sense of humor. Thanks!

I also had a resident try to tell me to "just go ahead and d/c all stupid orders.":idea:

Ok, I'm assuming you're kidding on this one, but I had to share the thought I got while reading this: That I've been WAY too lenient with my own eyes and nose, and should really crack down on them! ROFL.....

This one is an "oh-yuck" for me.

Had a pt once that absolutely LOVED a pretty nurse to come in and insert the ol' foley - He said he just felt he could pee better through a rubber tube....

Referred for psych consult - me, not the pt.
