What was the worst job you had before becoming a Nurse? How has Nursing changed your life?

Not in my 'hood.
But yea, they may be real stolen bags. Or knock offs. I dunno.

I'm almost halfway through my program so I'm not a nurse yet, but the worst job I've had so far was working at a chain body lotion store. Rude customers that come in just to open merchandise and sample it, don't buy anything, and make a mess. Next worst was as a cashier at a chain clothing store in Manhattan. I was working double and sometimes triple shifts from 6am to 3am (store closed at 10 but it's big enough to need 5 hours of cleanup/restocking). They let me go for picking up so much over time!
My last and current job are both desk jobs in home care which are not so bad, but I'm living paycheck to paycheck; picking and choosing which bills get paid and having to decide which service I'm ok with having disconnected this month. My car had been repossessed, I had to buy it back, and pay tuition for nursing school and rent in the same week.
What am I looking forward to as a nurse? First and foremost, a job that I love. A job that challenges me to learn, think outside the box, and apply clinical and critical thinking. Next? Some financial security. Being able to live within my means. I also can't wait to not be working full time and going to school so that I have the time to enjoy leisure activities, to go to the gym, to travel!

Job I hated the most: Dry cleaners = Hot as HELL
Least rewarding job: Flight Attendant/Stewardess/Air Waitress...I finally realized there was NO chance for advancement!
Worst job...sadly was a nursing job. I actually walked off the job because there were 2 of us nurses for 65 LTC/Rehab patients. I was "Charge Nurse" and everyone else either called off or wouldn't pick up their phone...Remembering it still freaks me out...

My worst was working in a neuro trauma ICU. Nothing like having an incompetent manager, incomplete training, and hostile administration to make your life rough.
My second worst was Wal-Mart. I actually just stopped going to that one.
My third worst is tied. The place I am working now stresses me out, and there was a graphic design job where I was bullied.
I actually liked all my manual labor jobs. I worked as a plumber/electrician's helper, as a carpet cleaning helper, as a general construction helper, as a stocker... Those were nice.
If they paid better, I'd go back to that kind of job. Very low stress and nobody dies if you mess up.

Strawberry, raspberry, blueberry picking every summer through out jr high and high school. Dirty, monotonous, but man I had a great tan!
Fast food place in a bad neighborhood: Dude chased his wife through the store one night with a hammer. Another night this whackadoodle ran through the front door into the kitchen and beat the manager to a pulp.
Worst though was being the overnight operator for an alarm company. Boring as Hades, I just could not stay awake. I gave one of the security guards who drove around town overnight a ride home one morning. Shortly after I quit (I think I lasted 2 weeks), he was arrested for a very bad thing and is serving a life time sentence.

Roy Rogers fast food. Can anyone remember that place? I lasted a month. I loved working at Target years ago. I folded all the clothes all night. When I shop there now I still want to "zone" the areas.

I was a correctional officer at a maximum security men's unit. Two years. Yuck.

Haha that was my worst job. I worked night stocking at Target. The only thing that made it bearable was the people I worked with in softlines. I like shopping there now that I don't work there.
