The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Trump's fate is in the jury's hands.  Apparently Trump came out of the courtroom claiming that Mother Theresa couldn't beat these charges.  What a silly thing to say.  Mother Theresa didn't do any of the things that were in the evidence against Trump.  That did sound though like maybe Trump thinks that his defense didn't convince the jury.

I think they will take a couple days to decide... it's a lot of counts to consider individually.

"How is this even a fair trial?” reads one Instagram post that had received more than 8,000 likes as of Wednesday. "The judge just announced that the jury does not even have to be unanimous in their judgment to convict President Trump! This entire process was rigged from the start.”

8000 people liked that whiny nonsense. I wonder how many will repeat it?

How can people with any kind of standards support this guy?

Yep, it's widely circulated that it was rigged from the beginning, that truth and facts won't change their mind at this point.    Again, we're being set up that the judicial system is rigged, so any guilty verdict(s) will be false, just like the election.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get a hung jury on some this, but I for one who have not been following it all that closely will be glad when it's over and we can get on with the narrative that Trump is a victim and the American way of justice and democracy is corrupt against him.

The instructions do seem confusing.  Apparently the jury thinks so, too.  They've asked to receive them again.

It does seem odd that to convict they need to determine he was attempting to cover up a crime, but that they don't need to b agree on what that crime was.

There were several crimes alleged and they simply don't have to agree on which other crime was involved, only that there was another crime. Didn't Michael Cohen already serve prison time for one of those other alleged crimes?

The judge clearly didn't tell them that they didn't need a unanimous decision.  That Trump baloney is easy to ignore, isn't it?

Yes, I know they don't have to agree.  That's exactly what I said.

Cohen pleading guilty doesn't equate to Trump being guilty.  Which is irrelevant because the prosecution didn't even narrow it down to that one crime.

"Trump baloney"?  It doesn't seem like you understand it isn't Trump who made the "doesn't have to be unanimous" comment.

If that's what you think you said...OK. it sounded like maybe you were confused about that other crime part.

Of course Cohen's conviction doesn't prove that Trump is guilty of anything.  It is curious that Cohen's campaign finance crime was related to Trump's campaign and the hush money payment to an adult film actress.

Maybe you weren't following closely and you didn't realize that Trump posted about this on Truth Social.

If you think you posted about Trump's Truth Social post in the comment with link I was replying to, OK.  It sounded like you were confused on what social media said vs what Trump said.

No.  Not until credentials and training on the topic at hand are disclosed.

For those not following as close as you, what are the alleged crimes and what did the jury hear about those alleged crimes?
