I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

The charge I've received [from the Trump administration] is to do everything in my power to assist,” Zeldin said. "There has been nothing holding me back.”
You're welcome.
Sure.
Of course, Trump himself said that there were going to be conditions on that federal aid to California. Trump said that California needed to write new voters ID laws and rewrite their water policy.
QuoteTrump on Friday morning landed in North Carolina to tour the areas devasted by Hurricane Helene in September 2024. Before leaving the tarmac where Air Force One had landed, Trump told reporters that he had two conditions for California to receive federal disaster relief: new voter identification (ID) laws and changes to water policy.
Trump reiterated his demands during a press conference in Fletcher, North Carolina, saying: "In California, I have a condition. In California, we want them to have voter ID, so the people have a voice, because right now the people don't have a voice, because you don't know who's voting. It's very corrupt.
"And we also want them to release the water. If they released the water, they wouldn't have had a problem. If they released the water when I told them to, because I told them to do it seven years ago, if they would have done it, you wouldn't have had the problem that you had—you might not have even had a fire."

So, who do we believe?
Chaos and confusion and threats are Trump's playground.

The point really is that disaster relief involves lots of agencies who focus on different things.
Trump has a habit of saying outlandish things for public consumption, but tying disaster aid to Voter ID outraged so many people I guess he thought better of it.
Quote"I want to see two things in Los Angeles. Voter ID, so that the people have a chance to vote, and I want to see the water be released and come down into Los Angeles and throughout the state."
I'm glad they're working together now. But that water was never going to get anywhere near Los Angeles.
QuoteALTADENA (KTLA) — While Gov. Gavin Newsom met with President Donald Trump on Capitol Hill on Wednesday in an effort to secure disaster relief funds, the new EPA Administrator had boots on the ground in Altadena on Thursday.

Another member said there wasn't no news about the topic. I simply helped out and provided some. So, not sure how the point is what you say it is.
But, in your response to your comment, Trump says many things as a negotiating tactic. Tariffs, taking over Gaza, and then this are all examples.

Tried and true strategy, inherited from our European relatives. Can you say "manifest destiny "? How about "Trail of Tears"?
We know what the "Trail of Tears" inspired in 1930s Europe. Now we are watching a modern fascist employ the same kind of strategy as he destabilize this republic so that it will bend to his malignant whim.

The tradition goes back to European colonization around the world. My point being that trump is not an anomaly ... his behavior is the norm for the ruling class. (BTW, I have read, but cannot confirm, that hitler was quite impressed with the American strategies for dealing with our indigenous predecessors. Especially the reservations.)
Just wanted to suggest a little historical context. End of derail ... carry on ...

My point started out as me wondering what kind of involvement does the EPA have in the wildfire disaster. I know from past experience that when a disaster happens the relief/recovery effort is spread across a large array of federal agencies and various Task Forces are created to coordinate their efforts along with state/local agencies.
I did not initially see the EPA listed there, but subsequently discovered their job is more in dealing with the toxic aftermath and hazardous waste that may have been created as a result of the fires. Sorry for the confusion.
I guess no more drag shows targeting our delicate youth and well be in a Golden Age of Art and Culture.
QuoteDonald Trump on Friday proclaimed his intention to take over the leadership of the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in DC and to boot the current board and chairman.
"At my direction, we are going to make the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., GREAT AGAIN. I have decided to immediately terminate multiple individuals from the Board of Trustees, including the Chairman, who do not share our Vision for a Golden Age in Arts and Culture,” the president wrote on his own social media platform Truth Social.

QuoteAsked if Palestinians would have the right to return to Gaza, Trump told Baier: "No, they wouldn't, because they're going to have much better housing.
Quote"In the meantime, I would own this,” Trump said of Gaza. "Think of it as a real estate development for the future. It would be a beautiful piece of land. No big money spent.”
Isn't it fun having a president who talks about ethnic cleansing so casually?
