I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Donald has turned on California's northern water valve using US military per his Truth Social post tonight:
QuoteThe United States Military just entered the Great State of California and, under Emergency Powers, TURNED ON THE WATER flowing abundantly from the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. The days of putting a Fake Environmental argument, over the PEOPLE, are OVER. Enjoy the water, California!

Trump reenters California's water wars. It's unclear who will win
Quote
President Trump has signed an order directing federal agencies to "maximize" water deliveries in California and "override" state policies if necessary.
Trump's executive order outlines steps intended to increase the amount of water pumped from the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta....
Environmental groups said the measures Trump is seeking, if fully carried out, would be disastrous for populations of threatened and endangered fish, as well as the state's commercial and recreational fisheries and the deteriorating ecosystem of the Delta.
"It would mean the loss of California's most important wild salmon runs, devastating impacts on salmon fishing jobs, enormous degradation in Delta water quality,” said Barry Nelson, a policy representative for the fishing group Golden State Salmon Assn. He also flagged the issue of states' rights: "This is a very clear statement that the Trump administration believes that California should not have the right to control its water resources.”
The order, posted on the White House website Sunday, directs the Interior and Commerce secretaries to "immediately take actions to override existing activities that unduly burden efforts to maximize water deliveries.”...
The order also attempts to link local water supply problems during the deadly Los Angeles County firestorms, such as fire hydrants that ran dry, with changes in how water is managed in Northern California. It says the Trump administration is setting a new policy to "provide Southern California with necessary water resources.”
However, water experts and state officials said such comments are inaccurate.
She noted that California pumps as much water now as it could under prior policies during Trump's first administration, and that because reservoirs in Southern California are at record-high levels, bringing in more water from Northern California would not have affected the fire response.
"There is no shortage of water in Southern California,” Gallegos said. "Water operations to move water south through the Delta have nothing to do with the local fire response in Los Angeles. Trump is either unaware of how water is stored in California or is deliberately misleading the public....

It's entirely possible, likely even, that Trump is both unaware and deliberately misleading the public.

I agree. He makes things up to suit his agenda such as earlier when he said Newsome refused to sign some water legislation when there was no such thing. It's his MO.
Like covid misinformation California fought that but also worked with Trump. Hopefully they can make it through the weeds again.

Quote"This memorandum requires Federal agencies to identify and review all Federal financial assistance programs and supporting activities consistent with the President's policies and requirements," the memo says.
Quote"The use of Federal resources to advance Marxist equity, transgenderism, and green new deal social engineering policies is a waste of taxpayer dollars that does not improve the day-to-day lives of those we serve," the memo says.
The White House memo said it will not affect Medicare or Social Security benefits.
QuoteSchumer noted that this temporary freeze could affect disaster assistance, aid to elderly and school lunch programs.
I'm sure that Trump and his loyalists will make sure that disaster victims and the elderly and poor children aren't harmed by the bad ideas. Right? I'm pretty sure that those people in western NC have been convinced that Trump was going to rebuild their homes right away and now it looks like he might delay they ability to get low interest loans so that they can pull themselves up by their bootstraps.
Trump is crazy and the crazy is going to hurt lots of people.

Your "covid misinformation " reminded me of this article I read the other day:
"For years, scientists and commentators who questioned COVID policies were censored, blacklisted, and canceled across the country. Many of these dissenting views have since been vindicated from the lab origins theory to the lack of efficacy of surgical masks to the opposition to the closure of schools. Now, a new study in the Journal of Infection further undermines the once orthodox views of the pandemic, concluding that "reopening schools did not change the existing trajectory of COVID-19 rates.” In other words, we shut down our schools, without any demonstrable benefit to the country. We did, however, succeed in reducing free speech in the name of combating "disinformation."
.....
"The very figures claiming to battle "disinformation" were suppressing opposing views that have now been vindicated as credible. It was not only the lab theory. In my recent book, I discuss how signatories of the Great Barrington Declaration were fired or disciplined by their schools or associations for questioning COVID-19 policies.
Some experts questioned the efficacy of surgical masks, the scientific support for the six-foot rule and the necessity of shutting down schools. The government has now admitted that many of these objections were valid and that it did not have hard science to support some of the policies. While other allies in the West did not shut down their schools, we never had any substantive debate due to the efforts of this alliance of academic, media and government figures."

So what exactly is Trump doing that reflects this? So no. I don't understand now. I think allowing them back to a war torn country to suffer and die would be more in line with ethnic cleansing.
Asking neighboring countries to take in refugees is not ethnic cleansing.

Perhaps some don't understand that the confusion about how to manage covid in the USA was directly related to the incompetent Trump leadership (if you could call it leadership). Trump's intentional lies and misinformation contradicted public health guidance and that chaos steepened the trajectory of the American pandemic.
Trump created confusion and chaos in the country around a national public health emergency and his sychophants are trying to blame other people for the consequences of his incompetence.
Hurley is predictable though, in his vigorous and creative opinions and defenses of Trump's incompetence. Thanks for sharing another.
Will you read this document and consider the conclusions? Is it too biased?

Try reading the definition again and then think about current events with that definition in mind.
This seems a silly thing for a masters prepared health professional to not understand.
I don't think he meant ethnic cleansing when he said "clean it all out" maybe he meant "rebuild". But he also didn't talk about relocating them while their homeland is restored, he said "I'd rather get involved with some of the Arab nations, and build housing in a different location, where they can maybe live in peace for a change"
This idea seems to be rejected by Jordan and Egypt and the Palestinians themselves, and thousands of them willingly went back and aid while bare minimum is getting through and getting better according to the BBC.
QuoteQuoteHuman rights groups have already accused Israel of ethnic cleansing, which United Nations experts have defined as a policy designed by one ethnic or religious group to remove the civilian population of another group from certain areas "by violent and terror-inspiring means.”
