I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can. My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.
He's not going away.
Haberman's book is out based on interviews. I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting. Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with. LOL
Quote“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

I have a MSN in nursing, do you agree with everything I say? PhD holders can be rabid racist too.
It's interesting that you find a book full of fallacies that applies collective guilt and sin on a group of people based on skin color a worthy read.
It's a shame a person with a PhD writes such a book that makes the Army "recomended book list" where as anyone else without the same pigmentation would be professionally destroyed for writing such a book.
Meh, racist going to racist.

QuoteDonald Trump represents the opposite of the big stick policy. Trump is all about his "tiny stick" or his "small stick energy.” Trump bloviates and bullies. He acts loud and obnoxious, but when push comes to shove, he runs away from threats and problems. Just as with COVID—when he said, "like a miracle, it will go away”—his entire approach is to avoid direct threats, conflict, and responsibility of any kind. Trump acts tough but carries a small, shriveled, deformed, disgusting micro stick.
Oh boy, he's already dialing back one of his primary campaign promises, to lower grocery prices.

QuoteI don't think so. Look, they got them up. I'd like to bring them down. It's hard to bring things down once they're up. You know, it's very hard. But I think that they will. I think that energy is going to bring them down. I think a better supply chain is going to bring them down. You know, the supply chain is still broken. It's broken. You see it. You go out to the docks and you see all these containers. And I own property in California, in Palos Verdes. They're very nice. And I passed the docks, and I've been doing it for 20 years. I've never seen anything like it. You know, for 17 years, I saw containers and, you know, they'd come off and they'd be taken away—big areas, you know, you know, in that area, you know, where they have the big, the big ships coming in—big, the port. And I'd see this for years as I was out there inspecting property and things, because they own a lot in California. And I look down and I see containers that are, that are 12, 13, 14 containers. You wouldn't believe they can hold each other. It's like crazy. No, the supply chain is is broken. I think a very bad thing is this, what they're doing with the cars. I think they lost also because of cars. You know, there are a lot of reasons, but the car mandate is a disaster. The electric, the EV mandate.
He thinks groceries are sitting in shipping containers at the pier. Sure, eggs, bacon, tomatoes. Riiiiiiight.
Dotard.

No. He said it's hard but he still think they'll go down. We'll see.
I'm not sure out of all that you got that he thinks perishable groceries are sitting in shipping containers. I guess it's what you want to believe.

He attributed high grocery prices to supply chain issues. What about bird flu, price gouging? He says drilling for oil will lower costs. The US is already producing record amounts of oil. The price of fuel seems stable to me.
Today Trump said a rising stock market will lower grocery prices. It's clear he doesn't understand economics . All he understands is tax cuts for billionaires good.
When asked if tarrifs would increased prices for consumers he said he couldn't predict the future. He promised inflation would go down and prices would not go up and his bravado talk that got him elected is changing.
Supply chain issues post covid did cause inflation. More demand vs. supply either by supply or contamination like bird flu. Economics 101. Is he admitting that now?

"Price gouging" rectifies itself, if a product is priced too high people won't purchase it and the price will go down. Was Econ 101 not required in your Bachelors pre-reqs? Regarding tax cuts for billionaires that is well deserved. Everyone should equally contribute to society and you shouldn't financially marginalize a population just because they chose to succeed in life. 1% of the population should not pay over 40% of federal income taxes. We need to gut SS, eliminate Medicaid, SNAP/EBT, eliminate foreign wars, cut military budget, and properly tax the bottom 80% of America who do not currently pay their fair share.
Trump says he wants to deport criminals, and yet, in his last administration he prioritized locking up people seeking asylum, and released criminals.

If 1% has most of the money, then that is who is able to afford taxes. Yeah, let's kick Grandma to curb, so Elon can have a tax break.

The bird flu causes shortages. That IS a supply chain issue.
Drilling is at at record amounts because of leases sold during the Trump term that Biden has to honor. Biden during his term implemented more restrictions and regulations. And more were to come of course with a Biden or Harris presidency. We've discussed this before.
Do you have any evidence of price gouging?
It wasn't only the rich that received tax cuts. We all know this.
It's interesting when I hear certain people say that others don't understand economics.

Our country makes plenty in taxes, although some should have more skin in the game. The problem is too much spending.

Yes, the bird flu has caused shortages. The Biden administration didn't cause this. Do you really think Trump has a plan for controlling that?
im on my phone, so offering stories on price gouging by Albertsons and meat packers are easy to find, if you look.
Trump has directly told the wealthy and businesses that he will lower taxes. Corporations are making record profits. Why do they need a tax cut?
