The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Yes. The mentally ill man tried to overthrow the government 4 years ago and he calls the inmates who attacked the Capitol hostages and heroes.  Today he's too cognitively impaired to undertake a complex strategy like that but his sychophants are more than capable.

Yeah. He's the most capable dementia patient I have ever seen. You know some of the symptoms if dementia include inability to balance a check, make phone calls and not able to arrange for transportation.  Forgetting where you are and calling upon long dead people.

And yet this extremely demented man can rigorously do rallies, in extreem wether no less. Do several interviews and manage to get half the countries vote! All while having a debilitating mental illness at the sametime!

Is that right?  The most capable dementia patient you've ever seen?

I think you should check Trump's recent rallies and interviews and town hall appearances.  He's had some extended WOW! moments this last week.  He has canceled a bunch of stuff.  What's going on?

Some think that it was only a "glass shard" that hit Trump's ear.

And that Trump suffering mental illness and dementia bewitched half the country into nazi cult victims.

From what I've been reading, trump couldn't be called capable on the best day he ever had.

When did the Americans decide it was OK to stop following our laws including not prosecuting those violating them?

Trump Is Speaking Like Hitler, Stalin, and Mussolini

The former president has brought dehumanizing language into American presidential politics.

Rhetoric has a history. The words democracy and tyranny were debated in ancient Greece; the phrase separation of powers became important in the 17th and 18th centuries. The word vermin, as a political term, dates from the 1930s and '40s, when both fascists and communists liked to describe their political enemies as vermin, parasites, and blood infections, as well as insects, weeds, dirt, and animals. The term has been revived and reanimated, in an American presidential campaign, with Donald Trump's description of his opponents as "radical-left thugs" who "live like vermin.”

This language isn't merely ugly or repellant: These words belong to a particular tradition. Adolf Hitler used these kinds of terms often. In 1938, he praised his compatriots who had helped "cleanse Germany of all those parasites who drank at the well of the despair of the Fatherland and the People.” In occupied Warsaw, a 1941 poster displayed a drawing of a louse with a caricature of a Jewish face. The slogan: "Jews are lice: they cause typhus.” Germans, by contrast, were clean, pure, healthy, and vermin-free. Hitler once described the Nazi flag as "the victorious sign of freedom and the purity of our blood.”,,,

In each of these very different societies, the purpose of this kind of rhetoric was the same. If you connect your opponents with disease, illness, and poisoned blood, if you dehumanize them as insects or animals, if you speak of squashing them or cleansing them as if they were pests or bacteria, then you can much more easily arrest them, deprive them of rights, exclude them, or even kill them. If they are parasites, they aren't human. If they are vermin, they don't get to enjoy freedom of speech, or freedoms of any kind. And if you squash them, you won't be held accountable.

In using this language, Trump knows exactly what he is doing. He understands which era and what kind of politics this language evokes. "I haven't read Mein Kampf,” he declared, unprovoked, during one rally—an admission that he knows what Hitler's manifesto contains, whether or not he has actually read it. "If you don't use certain rhetoric,” he told an interviewer, "if you don't use certain words, and maybe they're not very nice words, nothing will happen.”

His talk of mass deportation is equally calculating. When he suggests that he would target both legal and illegal immigrants, or use the military arbitrarily against U.S. citizens, he does so knowing that past dictatorships have used public displays of violence to build popular support. By calling for mass violence, he hints at his admiration for these dictatorships but also demonstrates disdain for the rule of law and prepares his followers to accept the idea that his regime could, like its predecessors, break the law with impunity.

Bingo!

The reason why the democrats may lose the 2024 election isn't because Trump is  a stellar guy guy and ran a great campaine.

One of the primary reasons he may win is because instead of focusing on their strengths and showing the American people why they sshould vote for them;

They decided to call Trump Hitler to scare people into voting democrat. When that didn't work the first time, they moved on to desparaging Trump supporters scalling them nazi and domestic terrorist. Then exploited covid.

Effectively disrespecting the people who died under the Nazi regeime and using the deaths of Americans to solidify their campaine.

One can only imagine why they would do this even when it's obviously not working any more.

When a political party runs on these ridiculous point it's usually because they have nothing to bring to the table other that fear mongering and defaming anyone who doesn't agree with them.

After this is no longer effective.

Insanity can be defined as doing the the samething and expecting different results. This is why they may lose the election next month. To apparently "Hitler".

One can say the dems are so terrible that the American people prefer Hitler over them. Loool.

Talking about genitals and sex is one of the ways that the right wing manipulates their target audience.  Trump's ability to use subtlety to engage in this manipulative behavior is now diminished by his advancing dementia. So dementia Donnie just blurts out weird things about another  man's penis size, thinking it appropriate and funny when it's neither.  As I mentioned before, disinhibition is a feature of some dementia, specifically frontal lobe dementia.  That explains some of Trump's unacceptable language and the increasing vulgarity that accompanies his emotional verbal rants.

What a vile man

What possessed him to talk about Arnold Palmer's genitals?

Straight guys don't talk like this.

I just don't see what people aren't seeing bout this rambling miserable narcissistic lieing old man. Gibberish

It's immature for anyone to be bringing up someone's genitals size, especially in a gathering with children present. It's like when he confessed to sexually assaulting women in the Hollywood tapes recording. No one else would get away with that.

My god, I'd have to drink a whole bottle of Jack to listen to this fool drone on for more than a few minutes. He just makes stuff as he goes.

Delusional conspiracy theorist

LOL He makes Joe Biden sound young and sharp

My god, everything circles back to how great he is.... Can you say narcissistic personality? Makes no sense!

That was the dumbest hour in my whole dumb life. I couldnt even force myself to watch the rest, the last half hour. I'd heard enough, laters psycho

I was worried about him winning because of all the hype on social media. But reading these comments tells me America still has some common sense...
