The Trump Thread

Published

I confess to back pedaling into Trump territory when I wanted to leave discussions about him in the garbage can.  My thread on the read-only break room site has 9,600 replies so I thought I'd bring up a new one.

He's not going away.

Haberman's book is out based on interviews.  I won't read it, but the excerpts are interesting.  Especially what he says about McConnell, a description that's against the Terms of Service here, but I actually don't disagree with.  LOL

Quote

“At one point, Trump made a candid admission that was as jarring as it was ultimately unsurprising. ‘The question I get asked more than any other question: “If you had it to do again, would you have done it?”’Trump said of running for president. ‘The answer is, yeah, I think so. Because here’s the way I look at it. I have so many rich friends and nobody knows who they are.’ … Reflecting on the meaning of having been president of the United States, his first impulse was not to mention public service, or what he felt he’d accomplished, only that it appeared to be a vehicle for fame, and that many experiences were only worth having if someone else envied them.”

Talking about genitals and sex is one of the ways that the right wing manipulates their target audience.  Trump's ability to use subtlety to engage in this manipulative behavior is now diminished by his advancing dementia. So dementia Donnie just blurts out weird things about another  man's penis size, thinking it appropriate and funny when it's neither.  As I mentioned before, disinhibition is a feature of some dementia, specifically frontal lobe dementia.  That explains some of Trump's unacceptable language and the increasing vulgarity that accompanies his emotional verbal rants.

The "right wing" target their audience with genitals?

Trump is using genitals to manipulate people but can't do it well because he has dementia?

Bahahaha . Seriously?

Well, I guess it's a step up from Hitler.

Hopefully the voter will see this genital manipulation and vote for Harris. Whome we are reminded daily is a woman.

Elon Musk is giving some Pa. voters $1 million each. Josh Shapiro has some legal questions.

Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, who is backing Vice President Kamala Harris, called Musk's lottery "deeply concerning." So have some election law experts.

During a rally in Pittsburgh Saturday night, Musk — the CEO of Tesla and SpaceX and the owner of the social media platform X — announced he would randomly give $1 million to Pennsylvania voters every day through Election Day on Nov. 5. He gave away his first check to a man identified as John Dreher, and a second Sunday afternoon to a woman named Kristine Fishella.

In order to qualify for Musk's self-funded sweepstakes, you have to be registered to vote in Pennsylvania and sign a petition from his political action committee to support two constitutional amendements — the freedom of speech and the freedom to bear arms. Musk also said he would expand his lottery to include voters from six other battleground states — Georgia, Nevada, Arizona, Michigan, Wisconsin, and North Carolina...

According to federal law, it is illegal for someone who "pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting,” with penalties including a fine up to $10,000 and up to five years in prison. According to the Department of Justice, the "bribe may be anything having monetary value, including cash, liquor, lottery chances, and welfare benefits such as food stamps.”

"Though maybe some of the other things Musk was doing were of murky legality, this one is clearly illegal,” UCLA Law School political science professor Rick Hasen wrote on his Election Law Blog Saturday.

Like Donald, the rules don't apply to him:

(c)False information in registering or voting; penalties

Whoever knowingly or willfully gives false information as to his name, address or period of residence in the voting district for the purpose of establishing his eligibility to register or vote, or conspires with another individual for the purpose of encouraging his false registration to vote or illegal voting, or pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both: Provided, however, That this provision shall be applicable only to general, special, or primary elections held solely or in part for the purpose of selecting or electing any candidate for the office of President, Vice President, presidential elector, Member of the United States Senate, Member of the United States House of Representatives, Delegate from the District of Columbia, Guam, or the Virgin Islands, or Resident Commissioner of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico

PBS/WHYY article:

Elon Musk said he'd give away $1M a day until Election Day for signing his PAC's Constitution-backing petition. Is that legal?

Quote

Some election law experts are raising red flags about the giveaway. Brendan Fischer, a campaign finance lawyer, said the latest iteration of Musk's giveaway approaches a legal boundary. That's because the PAC is requiring registration as a prerequisite to become eligible for the $1 million check. "There would be few doubts about the legality if every Pennsylvania-based petition signer were eligible, but conditioning the payments on registration arguably violates the law,” Fischer said in an email.

I'm guessing that Musk and Trump have some extra special plans for the names of these battle ground state voters.  They are building an argument that the election is rigged.  This may be part of that narrative.  Neither Musk nor Trump limit their thinking or ideas to things which are ethical or legal.

The reason why the democrats may lose the 2024 election isn't because Trump is  a stellar guy guy and ran a great campaine.

One of the primary reasons he may win is because instead of focusing on their strengths and showing the American people why they sshould vote for them;

They decided to call Trump Hitler to scare people into voting democrat. When that didn't work the first time, they moved on to desparaging Trump supporters scalling them nazi and domestic terrorist. Then exploited covid.

Effectively disrespecting the people who died under the Nazi regeime and using the deaths of Americans to solidify their campaine.

One can only imagine why they would do this even when it's obviously not working any more.

When a political party runs on these ridiculous point it's usually because they have nothing to bring to the table other that fear mongering and defaming anyone who doesn't agree with them.

After this is no longer effective.

Insanity can be defined as doing the the samething and expecting different results. This is why they may lose the election next month. To apparently "Hitler".

One can say the dems are so terrible that the American people prefer Hitler over them. Loool.

I thought Trump said if he lost it would be the fault of Jewish voters.  No matter. What we can be sure of, if Trump loses he will never admit loss and it will all be the fault of someone else.

You think that the transgender bathroom hysteria is about something different from a penis in a female area of a building?

Trumps dementia and disinhibition should play really well in all manner of presidential negotiations or high level meetings.  That concerns our allies.

Former President Donald Trump is accusing 60 Minutes of deceitful editing of our Oct. 7 interview with Vice President Kamala Harris. That is false.

60 Minutes gave an excerpt of our interview to Face the Nation that used a longer section of her answer than that on 60 Minutes. Same question. Same answer. But a different portion of the response. When we edit any interview, whether a politician, an athlete, or movie star, we strive to be clear, accurate and on point. The portion of her answer on 60 Minutes was more succinct, which allows time for other subjects in a wide ranging 21-minute-long segment.

Remember, Mr. Trump pulled out of his interview with 60 Minutes and the vice president participated.

Our long-standing invitation to former President Trump remains open. If he would like to discuss the issues facing the nation and the Harris interview, we would be happy to have him on 60 Minutes.

They just admitted they edited the interview and rationalized it.

How does this make Trump a "liar"?

With just two weeks remaining until the presidential election, former President Donald Trump has used his most recent appearances on podcast and cable interviews to escalate attacks on fellow Americans whom he calls "the enemy from within.”

In one recent interview, Trump said that if "radical left lunatics" disrupt the election, "it should be very easily handled by — if necessary, by National Guard, or if really necessary, by the military.”

That statement, on Fox News, was not the first time Trump has expressed support for using government force against domestic political rivals. Since 2022, when he began preparing for the presidential campaign, Trump has issued more than 100 threats to investigate, prosecute, imprison or otherwise punish his perceived opponents, NPR has found.

A head of state intends to use government force to  silence the press and anyone who makes negative statements about him. Isn't there a word for that? Let me see... democracy? No that isn't it. hmmmm...
