This is me right now.

There's a much better product called Calming Collars. They're cloth collars filled with herbs for aromatherapy. They are amazing! I have a very nervous cat so I got one for her. Within 15 minutes of putting it on her, she was calm & purring. If it doesn't work they will refund your money. Just google "calming collars".

I'm pretty sure those collars are filled with cat nip. Our cat was three when our daughter was born. He did not take well to the new arrangement. He would wait until she finally fell asleep, hop on top of the entertainment unit and start sending pictures crashing to the floor. When he was done trashing all the pictures, he started running up and down the pergo floors howling....not sure what to do to calm his jealous butt down we grabbed so cat nip and a pillow...off to sleep went psycho cat. Years later, trying to get him to let our toddler pet him, have her offer him the catnip, calm and mellow, perfect for petting:up:

So glad I found this thread. I make hand-braided leashes and no-pull dog harnesses as a side business and just got a major order for 25.

But here I am wasting away in AllNursesville.

Folding an iceberg size pile of laundry sounds fun too!

Klone, I had to Google Thundershirts. I have no pets, but these are like a weighted vest that we use for kids with autism. (Before anyone gets their panties in a wad, I'm not comparing kids with autism to animals!).

I'm procrastinating doing my yearly evaluation--and everyone else's. I found a partial bag of white chocolate M&Ms to help me navigate AN and a few other sites.

Yes, that's what I've been reading. Apparently Temple Grandin did some research with it as well.

I ordered one; I will let everyone know how it works! :) Just in time for the 4th of July! We usually drug him up with some Ativan for that day, maybe this year we won't need to.

The only way I could write my papers was when the house was empty, or everyone in bed.

Even then, I'd take a break every hour or two.

And while I'm on the subject of total avoidance, does anyone know if Thundershirts really work? My dog is completely neurotic. We've been having rain for like 3 weeks straight here in Denver, and now he won't even go outside. He's been peeing/pooping in the garage. At this moment, he's trying to climb into my lap, quivering like a leaf.

I have a dog for whom the Thundershirt did nothing.

He was on 0.5 mg Xanax BID for years, then later we tried Trazadone instead. The Xanax worked faster; the Trazadone better over a long period of time.

Someone on AN told me she gave her dog Bach's Rescue Remedy; there is a non-alcoholic-content one you can get at a Health Food Store in the pet section. ( She lived in Calif. and said she gave it to her dog when there was earthquake activity.)

The Rescue Remedy, much to my surprise, actually works very well! Here it is about $11.50-$13.00 a bottle, and well worth it!

Poor poochies! My dog used to start trembling if he smelled rain a few miles away and heading in our direction. He would spend long minutes looking toward the window to see if he could detect lightening. Thunderstorms and fireworks are the bane of his existence. But, truly, the Bach's drops really do help him a lot!

About 15 min. after I posted this, the adolescent rectal orifice across the street set off some firecrackers. I picked up my dog, got the Bach's, squirted it in the back of his mouth. He was resting on the sofa a few minutes later when we heard the fire-works in a ball-park several miles away. He lifted his head, turned and looked at me, thought about heading into the other room to hide under the bed....but he's NOT shaking, and he's not running away to his cave.

My cat chooses to die in his literbox when it's time to write a paper...I don't know what they're putting in his organic cat food but it provides an instant distraction from the paper because I HAVE TO GET IT OUT OF MY HOUSE! He sees me sit down at the computer...he runs for the liter box...

I used to live in a small apt. w/ 3 cats. If any one of them used the box I would immediately scoop the poop out......sooo, they got to where they didn't even bother trying to bury it because I guess they knew I'd take care of things.

Fast forward a bunch of years, I'm now married and have only one cat left of the original three, but true to form he was still a non-burying cat.

This one particular day the doorbell rang and as I opened the door the air in the house shifted a little, and there came the awfullest, most rank, strongly sharp odor of cat poop.

And who was at the door? My hubby's ex-wife, anxious to get her child-support check. Didn't want to wait for it to get mailed.

So, what could I do? I acted as though I smelled nothing. I don't know if she thought it was a pet or me that had created the odor.....but by gawd it's a moment I will never forget!

I have a goal of 200 practice questions a day before I take the NCLEX. Went online, went to imgur, lost three hours of time. It doesn't help that they let you scroll through pages in the laziest way possible by using the right arrow key on your keyboard.

150 more questions to go. gah.

I used to be an herbalist before I was a nurse, and I feel similarly about flower essences as I do about homeopathy. I know others find it helpful but I just can't do it.

Currently studying for the GRE! Studying at work helps - I have the perfect patient for it tonight, a more-or-less stable 1:1 who is currently snoring after a Restoril. That makes studying not so bad. Studying feels like the worst thing ever when I have to do it in my own house...

klone!!! LOL!

My thing is usually "Okay, I'm going to do this paper RIGHT NOW, here I goooo....hey, those blinds are *really* dusty, maybe I should wipe them down for 4 hours, THEN I'll do the paper..."

lol. this is Hilarious. I have convinced myself that "Allnurses" is good for me, so its okay to take a break from my homework to see whats new. lol

Which leaves me to ask....why?
