The Nclex is very very hard. It isn't anything like the saunders review questions or any other review books that I've seen. I took mine today 130 ?'s. I felt like I didn't know anything on it. I really think that they need to rewrite the exam to be nursing based, so they can actually tell it someone will be a safe nurse or not.

I have to disagree with you. The difficulty of the exam depends on the test taker. Based on my experience, NCLEX is nursing based questions.

It all depend on how prepared and ready.
I went to a top nursing school and worked in healthcare for 9 plus years. My exam had nothing to do with real world nursing.

Neither does nursing school.
I found the questions to be more an evaluation of what you can do with limited data and the knowledge you have.
Here's hoping you passed!

I agree with your statement about Saunders. I began studying with Saunders to find that I was getting at least 90% of the questions correct. Than I took Kaplan and was scoring in the 60%, but stuck with the harder review (Kaplan) and after I took NCLEX, I felt that Kaplan over prepared me, which I will take any day over feeling under prepared.

That's a shame that was your experience. I hope you hear good news soon.
I agree with the others that disagree, mine was more like nursing school exams so I guess our school prepped us well.
Mine def had to do with nursing/decision making. For me just doing a number of q's from any source helped. I didn't see how one study source would have been any better than the next.
This just goes to show you, no two experiences are the same so blanket statements really can't be made about what to expect/not expect.

The NCLEX has four levels of difficulty: comprehension, knowledge base, application, analysis. The second two levels are the considered "passing" levels. You must answer enough questions in these two levels to pass. In reality it's like having two kinds of test in one. You must be perfect in the two lower levels (which are not always easy) in order to get to the passing questions in the upper levels where questions are not knowledge based and more critical thinking based. You must be good at the upper level but you must first have all the knowledge base drilled into your head. I like the analogy of being a driver and knowing the traffic rules. You might be a talented driver but without knowing the rules you will be stopped and fined.

So how come a lot of people still failing if NCLEX is not that HARD..or some say its easy for them...Is this mean that some people are just really intelligent than the other? I thought this test is not testing you of how much you know? instead of how you react on some situational nursing problem...If you able to graduate from a nursing program this test should be easy right?? Can someone tell me why people still failing this exam? All i know is this is a HARD exam..Because i study really hard on my last two exam and when i get to the real test..its very different..the questions are out of context..not even a bedside nursing questions...they make this hard for everybody to pass...even some questions are not from the book anymore...this is my opinion...Its was ridiculous..

I believe that nclex-rn is hard. I just wonder why some people say nclex is easy after passing the exam when they say it's hard right after the test? Or maybe, the questions which were given to them were not that hard. I think they were the fortunate ones, were'nt they?.. I already passed nclex on my second try. I took it the first time without much giving attention with content. It was fine, i just laughed at it.. But I am sure to myself that i am capable of passing it the next time around. The CPA board that i took few years ago was way harder than nclex. But I still say nclex is hard and like us, you can also pass. The second time, i studied content and i answered thousand of questions. I think, to pass nclex, study content and improve test taking skills. Remember, there's a lot of questions that can be given to you in the exam, you need test taking skills/strategies if a certain unfamiliar disease,dx,drug,etc..will be given to you. But sometimes, you cannot really figure out the correct answer without knowing the content. Even kaplan's strategies won't work. Prayer is still the most powerful to pass nclex. Remember, God listens to our prayers. He gives to us the license we're praying for at the right time. If He didn't give it to you the first, second, third, fourth time, I'm sure He will give it to you at the right time. Have faith!
