The Mockery of Nursing

Nurses Relations

Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:

1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?

2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?

3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.

Not much left to add. Says it all.

Can I just say how much I love you people? Now, when I go to search for something on here, my computer is remembering things like "ran into a house," "stoma sex," and "NCLEX horror." I never knew nursing is so amazing.

Also, by accident I came upon the soft Media, aka, greatest catheter story ever. Not really sure how anyone thought this was serious. Hilarious, but not serious.

Lmao with this thread

I'm a "pre nursing student". What the heck?

I don't hear that one, I hear I am a nursing student but they have just started taking their pre-reqs and aren't even close to applying to the nursing program yet.

I have a few horror stories of people I've met trying to be nurses.

1) This was in my 'foundation' course (sorta like pre-reqs I guess) that I had to take due to student exchange meaning I'd missed a year of shcooling. One girl after a tutorial on drug and alcohol abuse proceeded to argue with the lecturer that she had failed to cover the 'good points' of drugs. That tutor was one of the people who was on the selection commitee for nursing. Said girl then proceeded to pin up 'legalise pot' pamphlets all over campus.

2) Girl from scenario one was sitting infront of me in a lecture. She was talking to another girl about how they would both like to get into addictions nursing. Part of their discussion include their favourite drugs (prescription & illegal) and then how to separate the codeine out of tylenol-codeine tablets so you get a pure'ish codeine solution. I'm thankfull to say neither of them made it into nursing.

3) I have one girl now in nursing course who is racist to the point that she reckoned she was going to write a letter to try and ban the muslim students from wearing burqa's ect on campus because it was against our culture apparently. She also tried to tell me and a friend that we shouldn't bother trying to get A's because HER MUM said a B was good enough.

This is less than 12 months of observation. I'm dreading to see some of the characters I'm likely to come across..

Alrighty overnight y'all have turned into dream killers who need to grow up on the horror thread. IMHO the horror are the Pollyanna posters who invoke their religion of convenience and blame the big bad NCLEX & the realistic nurses for their failure. Sorry after 3 times your test anxiety is no longer an excuse.

Oh, yeah, I have even seen "I am a pre-pre nursing student"......um, ok, does that mean you are still in high school?

Good grief...my head almost exploded reading your post, and I KNOW YOU'RE DOING IT ON PURPOSE! Some people remain alive only because their grammar and spelling make me shake so hard I can't pull the trigger.

Ok, This made me really laugh! I so feel your pain....I always say "give me a gun because a knife isn't quick enough".....

Also, I feel that if I read enough of the grammar posts, I won't need to bang my head against a wall to damage the frontal lobe.....it will just implode on it's own.....

I continue to absolutely love this thread! Just what I need stuck home with pneumonia. It's even worth the coughing fits brought on by laughing so much!

That said, it drives me nuts to hear in report about O2 stats and how they're alert and orientated.

Then again the nurse that splits my pedi case with me consistently writes "through up" when it seems she means to write emesis, reflux, regurgitated or even vomit. Amazingly "through up" isn't anywhere on our assessment checklist. And then they wonder why some insurerers deny coverage after a charting review.
