Just a bit ago the top three threads involved:
1.I have a DWI. Can I be a nurse?
2.I am stupid. Can I be a nurse?
3.If it takes me five times to pass NCLEX, Can I be nurse.
Not much left to add. Says it all.
Oh, yeah, I have even seen "I am a pre-pre nursing student"......um, ok, does that mean you are still in high school?
Actually, I can see this.
My alma mater has a nurse academy program geared towards high schoolers, which is a two-day summer program that is supposed to introduce them to the world of nursing. Unfortunately, this doesn't include having to change my morbidly obese, ventilated and heavily sedated burn patients who are on both lactulose and q4 enemas to prevent ileus.
Crap...are you telling me that my reply to rnbeauty was a wasted effort at reality confrontation because that poster was writing tongue in cheek? I wish I would have read this whole thread before I replied, darn it.....
Oh well.
I was anxious to go see the horror, since I apparently missed the soft Media. That'll teach me to actually do wasteful stuff, like review for PALS, show up to work on time, etc.

Dammit, if I can work three nights in a row and then show up for initial PALS certification during the day for the next two days -- AND keep up for AN posts, so should you.
The soft Media thread was so totally un-exciting, no pun intended. There was lots of lube, a fumbling cath attempt, and an erection. Kind of like a cross between that ESL chick who thought she was being discriminated against and/or harassed and those old pervy dudes who call 911 and demand to know what the person answering is wearing.
Aw, don't run away so fast. I'm now the uber-b**ch because I "dare" to tell someone that no, I DON'T think she should keep trying, enough is enough. Was only a matter of time, right?
The combination of poor grammar, high sense of entitlement, and plain old delusions (really? failed 5 times yet it's not your fault?) is just mind boggling.
Not that I'm anywhere close to perfect, but geez. Here's hoping I never need hospitalization lest I get one of those special snowflakes assigned to me.
Yeah, but I work nights too. And days. And mids. I am a dreaded VARIABLE RN.
And I don't think it's freakin fair, cuz I have been a nurse for 23 years. Just cuz I just started in ER last year, I should have whatever shift I want, you know, cuz I worked for 23 years already.
I'm gonna finish my bottle of Electric Reindeer rose today.

My dad's done rotating shifts as an ER doc for about 20 years. I definitely couldn't do that. So props.
But my dad was giving me **** the other night because the docs are salaried, so have to stay over for possibly an hour or two per shift and the nurses are paid hourly. I finally had to drop the ol "Dad, you make more in one year that I'll see in five years even with my 'new grad, obligatory one to two hours of overtime per shift' pay."
/also, waiting for him to die
//not really
