Hi guys

just returned from a mounths vacation in the USA and we really enjoyed it. We are now ready to start the process of relocating. We have already hit are first hurdle, the kids. IF anyone has relocated with children between the ages of 11 and 13 or perhaps older what was there reaction when you announced it to them. Please let us know and how did things progress.

i paid for my kids to have the hep here

then i discovered you can get it done in free clinics in the usa

pants!

I read this before (?I think from you???) Does that mean that they don't actually need to get it done before they go as I already know that my local clinic in Florida vaccinates free for required injections??

I had been under the impression they wouldn't be able to go to the USA unless they had had all their vaccinations but if it's just that they need to have started their courses before being allowed into school then I will wait.

Any chance of clarification of that???

yes well actually what you are saying is right, when i started the immigration process they only needed to have it for school, now they need it for immigration! so what would have happened was a mad scramble to start the courses or a shock at the medical when they charged me loads to do it.

your right this has been discussed before lol

they do, its changed from when i started it used to be just for school.

Does anyone know if they have to have completed the whole course or just start the course prior to immigration??

Also what about the Varicella vaccine?

i think you can just have started the course after all they cant give you all three jabs in one day anyway if they wished to at the medical.

apparently varicella isnt available in the uk but i wouldnt be suprised if you could get it at a private clinic somewhere.

im sure there must be money in it lol

Also what about the Varicella vaccine?

There is no vaccine for varicella u can have a course of zoster imune golbulin for passive protection if u think u have come in contact with it but only given to pregnant women or unwell etc

my youngest daughter was 18 when we decided to come to the states, and then a few months before we came she said that she was staying at home, we had already sold our house and we were living in rented accomodation. so because i couldnt leave her without some security, we bought a flat so that she had somewhere to live and could stay behind. she is now 22 and i still worry about her and wish even now that she would change her mind.

Hate to tell you but I have recently done some family including 3 children who need Hep B for immigration They were going to NZ and it didn't cost them anything, we could claim for the injections so didn't charge and kids got it on NHS prescription

The course can be fast tracked but I expect as long as started course they can finish it over in the US

Yes it can be finished over here, my kids have just finished their course.

Oh yes they have clinics in shopping malls who do the vaccinations for free you dont want to go to your PCP (GP) as you pay co-pays to see them which can be anything from $25-$35 per visit and it doesnt make any difference if it is a child or an adult.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Some good suggestions and it is also nice to know that what my kids are complaining about is quite normal. Im sure as time goes on there will continue to be mixed feelings about living in another country for both the boys and ourselfs. Corresponding with the school system I thougut was a really good idear and playing up the positive points. Today I mentioned the vaccinations, that went down ok.

I would like to start a journal of this journy that we are about to enbark on, so that I may also be of help in the futher to others, and that I can share it with you all. I have been reading some of your journals and they inspire me all the more.

Thanks again
