Democrats are excited about Harris and as of this writing she's raised 100 million dollars since Biden announced he was dropping out and throwing his support behind her.
Quote"Republicans, I worry, vastly underestimate Kamala Harris. They don't think very highly of her. They don't think she's terribly bright. When you or I bring up Kamala Harris' name in Republican circles, people laugh. It's immediately a punchline," Cruz said Monday on his podcast "Verdict with Ted Cruz."
Cruz warned against Republicans preemptively celebrating a Trump-Vance win months out from the election, arguing Democrats and the media will promote Harris as an "historic" candidate.

Try again.
Right. Because the second in line for the POTUS has nothing that relates to her boss the POTUS .
Hyperbole of Nurse vs tennis is the weak.

You are not making any sense at all. Try again and explain to me why you think you know anything at all about what Harris did or did not do as VP.

That's exactly the point. Harris was VP in a highly effective and successful presidency.
Trump, however, said that his VP was kissing his behind and that the VP doesn't really matter. Seems like you might be concerned about that coming from one of the worst presidents of your lifetime.

These ratings are interesting because pretty much automatically the opposite party is going to give a low rating. So that's 50% ish right there. Fast forward to today her ratings among Republicans, according to Gallop is 5% and Democrats in the 90's.
At the end of the day, in the here and now, even though she got zero votes in the primary, even though in the past her favorability and approval ratings were low, it's quite clear that Democrats overwhelmingly approve of her nomination and think she will be a better President than Trump.

Do they approve of her nomination and give her better approval ratings because she's so much better than she was, or because they don't really have a choice?

They approve of her nomination because she's an accomplished and well educated politician who is qualified and tempromentally fit for the position, unlike her unfit and mentally ill opponent. It's weird that you missed that obvious option.

Remember about 50% of her low ratings at the time they bottomed were from Republicans. Republicans obviously are still giving her low approval ratings as you see from what I posted.
A good deal of us gave decent approval ratings then. Including myself and I remember posting an article of what she was dong behind the scenes. Bet obviously with her ratings going some are changing positions. Approval ratings have typically risen and falling.
I don't think it's a matter of her being so much better than she was, but that she's not Biden. Plus people may be taking a more honest look backwards and deciding she wasn't all that bad after all. She was in the shadows and people didn't have a good idea of what she was doing.
It's not because people don't have a choice but to give her high ratings. They could have given her the same tepid response that Biden was given, like "oh we're stuck with her". Instead she got the support of the establishment and tens of thousands of people rallied behind her.
I'm not sure what would have happened if people rose up and said "not Biden or her". But clearly it was about Biden and not her.
Even before Biden dropped out there were doubts about her. I remember telling people that Biden should drop out and that Harris could beat Trump and was met with some doubts from friends. But pretty much most of my friends agreed that Biden was not a good candidate.
Polls before Biden dropped out echoed my friends doubts:
QuoteHarris scored in the high 70s with Democrats on both questions, but is in the mid-30s with independents. Voters overall were split when asked whether she is prepared for the job as well as if she cares about people like them.

It's stunning that the minute she announced she got nearly universal support from Democrats.
But I get it. Democrats are gaga over someone whom they never voted for in the primary, had low approval ratings a couple of years ago and and tossed aside Biden. Crazy times.
Republicans have a childish, Junior High acting, lying convicted felon.
Interesting candidates.
Geez.
And did anyone see the short interview she did Friday with a local station?

Watched it live--- what aspect concerned you? It was hosted by my local WHYY/PBS station
QuoteThe hosts asked a range of questions, including about the economy, abortion rights, gun control, Black men who are thinking about voting for Trump as well as reparations for descendants of slaves.
