Hi All!
I'm a crazy father of 2 ex-premed who just recently turned down Northwestern to go into a RN program.
I already have an Associate in Science, but I'll be getting another ADN and then go to a 4 yr school.
When I went to an info session about the RN program ill be trying to get into, out of like 70 ppl only 5 were guys.
So I want to know are there any men out there?
Just sayin Howdy. Didn't read all of this post (maybe later when I have about an hour to devote to it), but 55 pages says a lot! Saw some folks here from my home state of Texas. I worked EMS there in College Station and Arlington for a stretch. I'm 37, married to an ER nurse, have two boys (10 and 12), just passed my CNA exam, and filling in prereq's for an ADN program. Just this past month have been seriously considering a BSN program at U of U instead of the ADN route.
Hi everyone, I have seen this thread many times but never posted a message. So since I have a few minutes here goes-I live in Texas , have 2 children( 8 year old girl and 18 month old son), married for 10 years and starting my second semester of the ADN program at El Centro College in Dallas. While attending school I work part time at an assisted living home (Sometimes I think it should be considered a nursing home based on the needs of some of the residents). I don't get to use a lot of nursing skills but I do pass meds and assist in ADL's and more importantly get to interact with the many different personalities. It's good to see more guys practicing and entering into this profession.

Hey guys, I am one more to the club. I'll be starting at Mercer this fall as a transfering sophmore. I know the feeling of being the only guy in a sea of women. The idea is appealing, but it had me nervous too! I'm glad to know that I will be sharing a campus apartment with another male nurse major.
1 :) :uhoh21: :)
Ok, i'm old and starting back....haha. 33, going on 19, but still. I'm taking Business Stat and A&P2 with the Lab for the fall semester. I have a degree already, so lots of my basics will be counted, but there's a few classes they require before I can apply to the SON. Hope to get my gpa up and get admitted NEXT fall. Anyway, good to see a group this big of supportive guys. Hope to talk to you guys either online or thru here sometime. I'm on alot right now on yahoo. It would be cool to have a chat group maybe. Kind of like a study group session maybe? Anyway. look me up on yahoo if you want to chat. Trumpet_27. Good luck with everyone's classes this semester.
New to this forum and new to nursing. Done with the basics and start nursing 111 and 113 in September. At 42 I am not sure if this a new career or a mid life crisis. My wife has been a nurse for 22 years and it always looked like fun so I will give it a try. Being a guy in a mostly female world has been fun so far, I love the ladies and they find it intriguing that a guy is into this carreer choice. Besides some of them are really cute...
Hi guys,
I just had my orientation and met all of my classmates, 6 guys and 42 girls. The girls seemed pretty comfortable and happy with the new environment, but us guys were so quiet and appeared to be unfriendly. I know it's gonna be tough to get through if we don't stick together and get to know each other as this is an accelerated MSN Entry program. I felt so left out as hell. We also ordered our crubs and other medical equipments. Let me tell you, we look more like clowns than nursing students with that scrubs on, white top with burgundy bottom! By the way, our program is a brand new program of this medical school, so we're gonna be the guinea pigs for the faculty and staff. I don't know how I'm going to survive for the next three years so pray for me people.

I think I will stick to nurse. Otherwise a female nurse should be 'furse'
