I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

True. However, some members here who judge a person's character on, with a limited choice, who they vote for are unwilling to acknowledge that they too also cast votes for shady political figures.
Tweety said:Kind of hard to not take a dig at Biden isn't it.?
LOL...touche.

It was pretty common knowledge that foreign nationals and lobbyists doing business with Trump's administration were flooding into his hotel in DC.
It's also pretty common knowledge that, not only did trump require that SS lodging be at his facilities (the kickback) but that they were overcharged to the tune of 2 or 3 times the going rate.
You're trying to imply that those revenues were too paltry for trump to be bothered with. So were the bills he refused to pay to his various contractors over the years. Gimme a break!
No, I'm not.
Foreign nationals and lobbyists are free to stay where they want.
I've seen that hotel. That hotel was a beautiful property and in a great location.
You must have missed the article on why rates may have been so high. It's not like the government never overspend.
Yes, that revenue was a miniscule amount. And, it's all money on paper tied up in the business. It's not like he was short on cash. charged the SS, then hit up the ATM.
Some of you want smoking gun proof on any charge of wrongdoing by a Democrat. That standard is obviously different with Trump. Where is any evidence he had anything to do with what room rates are charged?

You haven't outlined what Biden did that's shady. That's probably because that the republican congress, after months and months of investigations, can't actually identify any crimes that Biden engaged in.
Nevertheless, simply claiming that other politicians are shady, without specific evidence, is simply projection when your candidate is an adjudicated fraud and felon and sexual abuser.
Character matters. It's weird that republicans spin so hard to defend the guy who stole from a charity and cheated on all of his wives after trying to steal inheritance money from family.

OK. You think that it's just coincidence that foreign countries funneled money into Trump properties during Trump's presidency. That's what you think and I think that's a naive stance. I think that the grifter who runs the RNC cultivates that perspective.
I didn't miss any articles on pricing that might erase that appearance of shoving business and money in the direction of the president that you want something from.
I'll show you evidence that Trump himself fixed the room prices as soon as you show me evidence that Biden is head of a crime family. So far the only politician even close to that description is Trump. But maybe you have evidence to go with the beliefs and claims.

QuoteThe indictment came as the Justice Department unveiled sprawling allegations accusing the Russian government of meddling in the 2024 U.S. elections. The two defendants worked for RT, a media outlet formerly known as Russia Today that is funded and controlled by the Russian government, the indictment said.
Federal prosecutors said RT oversaw a series of "covert projects" that included funneling $10 million through a series of shell entities to a Tennessee-based company launched in 2023 that publishes videos on TikTok, Instagram, YouTube and X, formerly known as Twitter.
QuoteThough the company is not named in the indictment, prosecutors said that it describes itself as a "network of heterodox commentators that focus on Western political and cultural issues" and features six commentators as its "talent." Tenet Media describes itself using the same phrase on its website, and other details in the indictment align with the firm. It's website lists six right-wing personalities, including Dave Rubin, who has more than 2.4 million YouTube subscribers; Tim Pool, a podcast host with more than 1.3 million YouTube followers; and Benny Johnson, whose YouTube channel has nearly 2.4 million subscribers.
So much propaganda is flowing into right wing American minds right now and so many seem completely unable to discern fact from fabrication or specifics from spin. It's a perilous time because most of those people so heavily influenced by propaganda will vote based upon that influence. That could elevate Trump back to the presidency.
PA is one of several states that still has federal minimum wage of 7.25/hr as law -- no effort to change it. McDonalds in SE PA is paying ~15.00/hr; while in Maine last month, ads for $18.00/hr seen in Augusta area stores.
$7.25.hr = $15,080/year -- unable to support oneself or a family on that wage, meet Medicaid eligibility for most US citizens.

...The referendum is among those on the ballot in a half dozen states this November having to do with wages and benefits. Although ballot measures to raise minimum wages are typically popular, those in Massachusetts and Arizona affect tipped workers and have drawn significant opposition. Proposals in Alaska and Missouri also face some opposition, because they would require paid sick time along with hiking state minimum wages....
...In addition, California has a ballot question that would increase the minimum wage from $16 to $18 per hour by 2026....
...According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, 34 states, territories and districts have minimum wages above the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour....
...In Alaska, the referendum on the minimum wage has three parts: It would raise the current $11.73 minimum wage to $15 an hour by 2027, require employers to provide workers the ability to accrue sick leave, and prohibit companies from punishing workers who fail to show up at employer-sponsored meetings involving political or religious topic...
Florida voters voted yes to a minimum wage hike, and I can't imagine any state that isn't going to vote yes on a wage hike. It was a phased increase and currently is $13 an hour and set to rise to $15 in two years. That seems to have worked for us.
Most employers are clamoring for employees, especially entry levels and are offering above the minimum wage already. The minimum wage where I work has be $15 for a couple of years now.
Inflation has been really bad the last few years in Florida but it is attributed mostly to housing. It's said that the minimum wage increases haven't kept up with inflation here.

Another example of weaponized government? Maybe it's just a coincidence that Trump's House Republicans all of a sudden decided that the state of Minnesota and its political leadership needs congressional scrutiny. It's kind of odd that they weren't concerned about any of the covid fraud except this specific example.

This would be a big deal. It would be great to get the obvious corruption, like Scott, out of congress.

And that's how bad Trump is. Wow. Now if we can get the Bush family to come out and speak about what's already on their minds, I'd sleep better.

It currently sits at #72 in books, #1 in books about Presidents. But to be fair most politicians are going to write a book. Harris already has her memoirs out. Obama released yet another books, which is currently 13,323 and 48 in books about Presidents.
The price tag though sure is hefty. Despite everything Trump remains very popular and a viable candidate that could possibly win the election.
