I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

This is likely why disinformation and propaganda is so much more common in Trump's campaign. His messaging is directed to consumers of social media platforms who have zero obligation to publish truth.
Trump's messaging for the general election should be less extreme, but his recent rallies tell a different story, IMV.

Here's what he "explains" in his rallies...trigger warning, he's unhinged.

He indeed crazy. Sometimes he's relatively incoherent.
QuoteAt day's end, Trump left court looking wan, and by the time he called in to Sean Hannity's show on Fox News that night to denounce the anti-Israel protesters at Columbia University, he was not entirely making sense. "You go back 10 years, I mean, Israel was protected by Congress,” he ventured. "And now, Congress is just doing numbers that are unbelievable with, I think, a very, very small group of people within Congress, and it's got to stop. But we have to go back to the roots.”
Call your representative and tell Congress to stop just doing numbers that are unbelievable!
And, while you've got them on the phone, tell them to turn up the thermostat. It's freezing in here.
Quotehen called on the ludicrous things that come out of his mouth, Trump wilts. Conducting an interview this week with a Fox affiliate in Detroit, Trump claimed Venezuela "announced, the other day, a 72 percent reduction in crime in the last year. You know why? They moved all their criminals from Venezuela right into the good old USA.”
But the host surprised Trump. "Sir,” he asked, "where are those numbers coming from?”
"Uhhhh,” Trump answered, "I guess I get them from the papers. In this case, I think it's a federal statement, or — well, they're coming, actually, from Venezuela.”
There are no such statistics, and no evidence Venezuela has sent criminals to America.
Sir,sir he said with tears in his eyes, you've got crap coming out of your mouth...

..All of Trump's children except Ivanka Trump will serve as delegates at the mid-July GOP convention that formally nominates the Republican presidential candidate. Delegates have to be registered Republicans in Florida.
This year's convention takes place in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Donald Trump Jr.'s fiancée Kimberly Guilfoyle and Tiffany Trump's husband Michael Boulos will also serve as delegates. Lara Trump, Eric Trump's wife, is the co-chair of the Republican National Committee.
How can Michael Boulos age 24 (raised in Nigeria), is a member of the family who founded SCOA Nigeria and Boulos Enterprises, a Nigerian-based distribution and trading company, went to school in London, be a delegate as not a US Citizen so unable to vote?

Barron Trump declines Florida GOP delegate position due to 'prior commitments
Quote"While Barron is honored to have been chosen as a delegate by the Florida Republican Party, he regretfully declines to participate due to prior commitments," the Office of Melania Trump wrote in a statement to ABC News.
Suspect Melania's influence here to shield her son so he can go to college and enjoy those years without being focus of attention. ... like country did for the Obama daughters. Good job Momma.
It looks like Trump has figured out that the guy with the brain worm is an appealing candidate for the crazies.
RFK jr has had a full and interesting life, this is a sad way for him to enter his senior years.
QuotePresident Biden and former President Donald Trump have agreed to a pair of presidential debates hosted by television networks, circumventing the schedule and traditional format proposed by the Commission on Presidential Debates.
Biden and Trump will first debate on June 27. The event, hosted by CNN and announced by the network and the respective campaigns, will not feature an audience and will take place at CNN's Atlanta studios.
The second debate, hosted by ABC News, will be Sept. 10. A location has not yet been announced.
Oh boy. No live audience in the studio for Trump to play to.
QuoteBiden campaign chair Jen O'Malley Dillon said the president was willing to take part in two debates hosted by broadcast organizations. But she said the commission — which has hosted debates since 1988 — is "out of step with changes in the structure of our elections and the interests of voters."
The commission had announced back in November that there would be three debates in September and October. But O'Malley Dillon said its schedule begins too late, after tens of millions of people have cast their ballots in early voting, and said the commission failed to enforce debate rules in 2020.
QuoteBiden's campaign also objects to the audiences — which it described as "raucous or disruptive partisans and donors, who consume valuable debate time with noisy spectacles of approval or jeering."
"As was the case with the original televised debates in 1960, a television studio with just the candidates and moderators is a better, more cost-efficient way to proceed," O'Malley Dillon said. Other terms include having microphones open only when it is the candidates turn to speak.
Shutting off the microphone of the candidate when their time is expired will help Trump to regulate himself and his speech when others are speaking. It will save the repeat embarrassment of Trump being told to shut up when he acts like a rude and disruptive child.

Do ya think they are totally unaware that rules about such things even exist? They collectively have the IQ of a Big Mac..no insult to Big Macs.
Quote"The campaign is really getting into it and involved this year in [platform committee] races in states,” a veteran Republican operative who has done work in the past for the RNC said. "There is a sense among them that the platform should not be pushed too far to the right on a few issues, but I keep hearing abortion and marriage specifically.”
"The insertion I am seeing is very odd,” said another longtime RNC member of the involvement of Trump's allies in the selection of platform committee members. "It's definitely out of the ordinary from past experiences; some are concerned that they only want to engage to change or control it.”
"I think obviously the [former] president will get what he wants, which is appropriate,” added the person, who has previously sat on the RNC's Platform Committees. "But it's currently a conversation within the party.”
The RNC's current platform mentions "abortion" 35 times, including opposition to the use of federal funds to perform or promote abortions, and support for state's abilities to ban abortion providers from federal programs like Medicaid.
Trump is good at creating a false or misleading narrative to hide behind when it comes to his right wing extremist agenda. Maybe the GOP and team Trump thought that not having a party platform in 2020 hurt them in the actual election. Now their challenge is to try to conceal the zealotry and extremism in the language.

Yup.
Speaking, as you do, of what the American People Think, it's interesting to note that trump has not won the popular vote in any election, ever.
