The election 2024 Thread

Published

I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.

Get out the popcorn for this one.

Quote

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.

The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

Since Trump isn't running a campaign to attract moderates and independents one has to wonder kind of people have recently decided that Trump is the better candidate and how they are informing their opinions.

Perhaps it has to do with the opposing ticket and their radical leftist history and ideas.

Previous reporting identified ties to republican politics with these individuals.

That makes the GOP whining about democrats cheating look and sound a great deal like a projection of their own efforts onto others.  We expect that from fascists as they attempt to attain power.

Like what specifically?  Because I can point to the GOP ticket and talk about some very specific and radical far right talking points and rhetoric.  I mean, you don't really believe that Ohio Haitians are eating pets or that FEMA is taking people's property during a disaster, do you?

That's clearly what his media tells him, because the actual facts and evidence don't support that characterization.  Unless feeding children and looking out for the rights of women is radical left.  When you are supporting a fascist authoritarian, most things begin to look "far left".

In fact, Harris's economic proposals sound a whole lot like the Clinton's' "third way". Subsidized down payments, small business tax credits and the "public-private partnership" to build new housing all seem ripe for grifting. How do you think Fred Trump got so rich?

Far left? Really?

Really.  This is the party of Trump and Trump is a pathological liar, it's a big part of his mental illness.  That means that the GOP is now a political party with its foundation and leadership steeped in dishonesty, fabrications, and propaganda.  As Harris said in her Charlemagne interview, her biggest challenge is combating the mis and disinformation that pours out of the GOP and Trump's campaign.

With the publication of P2025 it becomes clear that Trump is being used to forward American fascism. His clear mental illness will guarantee that he's either removed or simply manipulated to achieve the goals of the current GOP as curated by Vance, the Heritage Foundation and congressional Republicans.

Just imagine.

This is ridiculous propagandic hyperbole.

Did Harris mention how "misinformation " will be found and how it will determined misinformation?  Besides the obvious? Does the party currently in the in WH get to decide? How woukd you feel if Trump was in charge of this?

Who gets to decide what is misinformation and was is not? What's the criteria? Who will oversee this imaginary not named plan to quell misinformation?

Better yet, what will happen to the people who speak about or disagree with this disinformation? Fines? Charges? We have our own opinion on Biden/Trump mental health/cognition, what if one of us is deemed misinformation?

Will she and whatever entity apply this stopping misinformation equally? Or just the GOP?

Imagine a dystopia futire in which you can only say what the party in power says you can. Where only 1 entity gets to decide what is misinformation/hate speech and what is not.

Imagine nothing.

I think answers will be found in Nazi Germany.

This 💯.  Well said.  It's kinda crazy that it has to be said.

Why do you and @heron object to the radical far-left label for the Democratic ticket?

Harris is on the record as:

Supporting the New Green Deal, AND eliminating the filibuster to do it.

Supports the banning of fracking

Would consider prosecuting oil companies for their role in climate change

Supports decriminalizing illegal immigration

Supports packing the Supreme Court

Wants to implement price-fixing

Believes the federal government should be involved in combating what bureaucrats deem misinformation

Supports a gun buyback program

That's just a start. And, haven't even gotten to Walz.

Haitians and FEMA....nice strawman.

I bet they will push him aside with the 25th relatively quickly, maybe just months.  Trump is clearly not stable.

Even Kristi Noem looked  pained and WOW! while Trump bobs his head for 30 minutes and refuses questions at a town hall meeting.  They deserve to be together on that stage.  I think all of Trump's Potupussies have the same plastic surgeon.  They all look alike in the same hard and bad job kind of way.
