I traditionally have a thread heading to the election, here we go.
Get out the popcorn for this one.
QuoteFlorida Gov. Ron DeSantis is expected to formally announce next week he is running for president in 2024, NBC News reported Thursday, citing two sources familiar with the matter.
The governor's official entry into the Republican primary field will put him head-to-head with former President Donald Trump, the party's current frontrunner for the nomination. Trump has already spent months treating DeSantis as his primary campaign rival, thrashing him with torrents of criticism over his gubernatorial record, his political skills and his personality.

and Trump on diverting $ away from 2024 campaign to Save America PAC used for legal fees ( 90% to campaign, 10% to PAC).
Christie rising in some Republican presidential polls to 5-9%.
I will give him credit for having a sense of humor unlike the other automatons that are running for the Republicans. He's the only one showing any significant brain activity.
QuoteNew polling shows recurrent challenges for Ron DeSantis with female registered voters.
A Civiqs survey reveals that 63% of women disapprove of the Florida Governor, a potentially bad sign for his presidential run. Just 27% approve of him.
QuoteTrump has huge advantages with rural voters, white evangelical Christians, GOP women, those without college degrees and those who make less than $50,000 a year.

That's the cult. It's interesting how popular Trump is with conservative women.

Aren't these same dweebs that couldn't elect him the last time. I have read that some MAGA handmaidens flipped after Dobbs. I do know of one personally but she is the only Republican female that I speak with. I've tried to show her the Better Way through reason but the Dobbs flip did it for me.

It appears that some conservative women are going full MAGA nasty. But I think they will turn off the non-MAGA Republicans. We don't need a lot of defectors to win in 2024. People are unhappy with inflation but compared to other 1st world countries we are doing better. I don't think that they can use the economy against Biden. But, of course, I am over estimating the IQ of half of the country. Meanwhile I see that Tennessee A.G. is asking for the medical records of transgender patients. Now this is truly Nazism and scary. Stay tuned.....

Hospital turns over transgender patient records to Tennessee attorney general in investigation
The attorney general's office has been investigating potential medical billing fraud by Vanderbilt University Medical Center and related providers since September
...“The Tennessee Attorney General has legal authority in an investigation to require that VUMC provide complete copies of patient medical records that are relevant to its investigation. VUMC was obligated to comply and did so,” Howser said in a statement.
Brandon Smith, the attorney general's chief of staff, told The Tennessean that the office "maintains patient records in the strictest confidence, as required by law" and that the investigation is focused "solely on VUMC and certain related providers, not patients.” He said the office has been investigating potential medical billing fraud by the hospital and related providers since September 2022. The hospital began providing patient records to the office in December 2022, Smith said.
The attorney general can request patient health records under federal and state law if the office is investigating a possible issue at the hospital, Paul Hales, a St. Louis-based attorney who specializes in health information privacy, told the newspaper.
Chris Sanders, executive director of the LGBTQ advocacy group Tennessee Equality Project, told The Tennessean three different parents of transgender children contacted him Monday after Vanderbilt informed them about the release of the records to the attorney general....

I just caught up with this story this morning and find it to be a gut-puncher. Skrimetti is nothing mother than a mouthy brown-shirt saluting The Fuhrer Trump. This is just another manifestation of children-hating MAGA's.

Geez. Now I am going to have to take back the words I said before. I saw Christie being interviewed this morning expressing his Catholic bono fides by avoiding the tough questions and repeating twice that he was opposed to abortions at nine months. Why hasn't his "team" or anyone else explained to him how silly that is to even say? No MAGA has explained to me how they do these abortions happen at nine months and they get away with passing on this drivel. The Democrats are passing on an important teaching moment here.
