Thankfulness - What's Yours?

So this is the week of one of our biggest holidays - Thanksgiving. Now is a good time to remember to be grateful. It started long ago as a way to express gratitude for a bountiful harvest. Now, it sometimes seems to be overshadowed by our frantic pace to start our Christmas shopping. To get back to the roots of the holiday:

What are you grateful for in 2018?

Grateful for a healthy family and pregnancy.

Grateful for new career opportunities that will provide for them.

Specializes in ER.

I'm thankful for family, health, prosperity, pooches, cats (particularly Nala, the favorite cat).

Specializes in LTC, assisted living, med-surg, psych.

I'm thankful for family, friends, and the simple things in life. I love that first cup of coffee in the morning, electric blankets, leaves crunching underfoot, a warm roof over my head. Even though I'd rather still have my big old house in the woods where so much of my life happened, I've been so close to homelessness that I never take housing for granted.

I'm thankful for pets, who are always available for a cuddle. These dogs love me unconditionally and want only to please me. They also know I adore them and will almost always let them lick my dinner plate when I'm finished. Sometimes I'm *not* finished, and let 'em have it anyway.

I'm thankful for my faith, which has seen me through a lot of losses in my life. I've often questioned it during these past two years since my husband passed away, but something in me holds on to a glimmer of hope that there's something better for me after this life is done. It may not work for everyone, but it does for me.

And, I'm thankful for being able to come here day after day and year after year, to drink deeply of the wisdom of other nurses and, once in a while, share some of my own. I've been here for 16 years, and even though I no longer practice I want to stay relevant.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Aw you guys are awesome.

I'm thankful for my health, my family, my career and for AN so that I can come here instead of cleaning my house!

I'm thankful for you all, especially the SN board.

I'm also thankful for green bean goop. Scoff if you want, I love that stuff.

And I'm thankful for your missed presence, Farawyn.

This post of yours was my first chuckle after awakening while drinking my coffee.

I usually hold out longer before I chuckle.

You might say I had a premature chuckle-ation.

I'm thankful for...

-My job and the incredible coworkers that came with it. It is a privilege to care for patients alongside them, especially since we are always looking out for each other too.

-Even with the year's drama, I'm grateful that my family is all safe, relatively healthy, and moving toward better days.

-My boyfriend. He is just the greatest; he helps me live such a fulfilling and joyful life, he's an amazing person, and I'm so lucky to have him. (Also, he's a baaaaaabe.)

-Being done with my BSN! I'm glad I got it (and didn't have to pay for it), and I'm very glad to have my free time back now. I love having more time and energy to be creative, put some TLC into my home, and invest in my own health and wellbeing. I'm also looking forward to whatever career opportunities it will open up for me in the future.

Specializes in Psych, Addictions, SOL (Student of Life).

I am thankful for the following: My sobriety without which the rest of this list would be moot. I am thankful for my husband, my son and the outstanding young man he has become. My home and a job that not only helps to pay the bills but that I like going to every workday. Also I am thankful for both my in person and virtual friends.

Hppy
