Thank You Allnurses!!

Nurses General Nursing

I just wanted to take the time to thank Brian and all of you for the wonderful interactions and learning experiences I get each time I post here. Learning up to date information has lead me to be an even better nurse because of this site. Keep up the good work!:yeah::redpinkhe:nurse:

Specializes in Telemetry/Med Surg.

This site is the absolute best. I joined in 2003 when I was contemplating going to nursing school at age 49. I put off going to school for years and years for various reasons and poor decisions on my part. I got such wonderful support here, people telling me to go for it.....and I did!

Received all kinds of support through my three years of nursing school and now I'm an RN.

This site rocks.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Specializes in Acute rehab/geriatrics/cardiac rehab.

Been here since I was an undergraduate student, through my year as a new nurse, Now I've recently graduated and passed the certification for Adult NP.

Thanks so much Brian and the allnurses staff for all you do :)

Specializes in Med-Surg, Trauma, Ortho, Neuro, Cardiac.

I came her because I'm a message board junkie and stayed for the great discussions.

I've learned so much from you guys here.

I was inspired to get my BSN because of this site, and I actually found the school I chose to go to from members of this site, received tremendous support the 2.5 years it took to finish, and felt that some people here shared my joy when I graduated.

No place I'd rather spend my time. :)

Awww, Tweety!!! And, you are one of my reasons for coming around. You are a voice of reason and a great moderator. :yeah:

Specializes in Multiple.

I have made so many good friends here, and even visited the USA thanks to inspiration from posters and mods. I love the support, friendship and celebration of the art and science of nursing that is allnurses - thanks Brian, Mods and posters for making it what it is today!

Specializes in CTICU, Interventional Cardiology, CCU.

I joined when I passed the boards last year and became an RN. Almost 1 year later, and one year into my first year as an RN, I can't even begin to express the thanks and appreciation I have for all of the members and staff that make allnurses.com a place for me to come and talk about nursing.

When ever I work, I work NOC shift 7p-7:30a 3 days a week, I ALWAYS come home in the morning and go directly to this site. It has helped me and one of my best friends, who is also an RN at my hospital, talk about situations, feelings, advice, eduction, humor and everything related to being a nurse.

My Aunt is a ER Nurse manager in Philly, where I am orig. from, and I told her about this site, now she's always on here. It's a place where we understand eachother. I can tell my mom all about my night and she's supportive, but she's not a nurse, but she understands 70% of what I am talking about, mostly because between me and my aunt (her sister) talk about the same things to my mom. And when I have had a really really crappy night and I am driving home in the morning and I know my mom isn;t going to understand a situation I had b/c of all the medical jargon, and I can;t call my Aunt b/c she works 11a-11p and I KNOW not to bother her at 8am when I am done work, unless she is working that morning. Because we, as nurses know that when you are off from work, the ringer on the phone is off, the cell is on vibrate and caller ID is your best friend, so always leave a message.

So if I can't vent to my Aunt about a really horrible night, I vent here. I ask questions here, and the best part is since joing this site there are times I feel like some of the posts other nurses have written, I can relate all to well. I enjoy the support and feedback from my fellow members, it is encouraging, and supportive, I enjoy the education tips in the posts, and how we can all learn from eachother. Most times this is the only place I can turn and talk about being a nurse, and you all actually understand, because it's what we do. And in a way it's theraputic.

My Fiance is a NYPD police officer and he understands why I go to this site all the time when I get home from work. The NYPD cops have the NYPD RANT site that he goes to everynight when he gets home and reads posts, but he never posts, ever, every cop at his percinct goes on that site, and they all talk about it all the time. He even told a coulple of the cops wives, who are nurses, about allnurses.com..he said we have the RANT, you have allnurses.com

I can;t tell you how many times just posting on this site, has gotten me through the day when I get home from work.

And I can honestly say, I have gotten some great out loud laughs from some of the posts on this site.

Thank you Allnurses for being my nursing psychologist. w/o the expensive fees..hahhaha

Heck, you're the man, Tweety! You even pulled the rug from under the Communication thread that lead to a Biblical ranking war!

Yes, this can be therapy, it can downright be comical here, but the fact that we are all nurses and are doing it together makes it all worthwhile. And, yes, to get therapy for a few dollars a year from many sources is a worthwhile investment!

You're still high about your successful health fair, aren't you?

I love it here, I joined in 2006 because I quite liked the UK section of the site and for quite a while I didn't venture out from there. After I while I found the new posts button and I have found that allnurses has opened my eyes to the world of international nurses.

I think the best bit for me is confirmation that no matter where you nurse you encounter the same problems, we have the same discussions, hopes fears and pressures and I think it's fantastic to have a safe and non-threatening place to post for advice.

When I joined the volunteer staff in January I had very little idea about how much hard work goes on behind the scenes, I now have a little idea and the fact that these guys do it voluntarily with the sole aim of keeping the site professional and safe speaks volumes. There is so much knowledge and experience here that I find I am constantly in awe at the information that is freely given.

I learn so much from here every day, and the last couple of weeks when I have been house bound it has been a life and sanity saver.
