Termination From Employer For Refusing EUV

I am an Oncology nurse working for a hospital for more than 13 years. I live in California and there is now a mandate in place that is requiring me to be vaccinated before Sept. 30th or I will be terminated from my job. Not only do I not feel comfortable to receive a EUV that no long term studies have been documented because it is too new and not FDA approved but I have also witnessed friends as well as patients having severe side effects after receiving vaccination.

I am unclear how an employer has the LEGAL RIGHT to ask me personal questions about my religious beliefs or medical information (vaccination status), where are my HIPAA Rights. Employer vaccine mandates are subject to religious accommodation under the Title VII of the Civil rights act. For personal reasons I will be submitting for religious exemption to hopefully prevent me from losing my job.

I'm not sure what the outcome will be but I am planning to seek employment elsewhere in case I do lose my job and likely it won't be in healthcare. I don't know if this will be the end of my nursing career and if it is I feel extremely sad about that.

What happened to the phrase " my body my choice " ?

I will not be forced to do anything to my body that I do not choose.

Through scripture we know that God values our bodies. Our bodies are said to be a temple of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to take care of and honor God's temple. God's words lead use to use our bodies and the gifts He has given us to achieve the will of God.

So does anyone have any thoughts on getting a whole vaccine, unattenuated, as a booster, instead of an Rna booster?

My thoughts are, I'm not sure how an Rna booster is applicable, because our immune systems might have decreased antibodies, but it hasn't forgotten. Short of actually contracting Covid, I'm conflicted about a variant with a modified spike protein. I mean it's a simple disease with tiny amounts of proteins, but as far as I remember, viruses can be tricky? Wouldn't a tiny variation of the spike via a variant be a troublemaker?

Does anyone have any thoughts or is my thinking wonky?

If only there was a vaccination against Hepatitis C.

My sister developed immunity against Hep A. The other sis passed away because of it. I have Hep A to C vaccines.

I suspect you and  @GrumpyRN    are possibly so irritated with my posts in general for going against the grain that you read that with malice. I can't say what you think or feel it just looks that way

I alllllready knew we were facing a potentially mutating virus that would need boosters. What I said wasn't to convey being clueless about that.

You guys misunderstood my point, so where you need to demostraste patience is with realizing text is often misunderstood as is the case here.

I've had every possible bodily fluid projected on me, poked with dirty needles, nearly assaulted, and done enough chest compressions to be sure I'm a nurse.

One of the greatest strengths a nurse has is demonstrating kindness and compassion even in the face of information we may find obsurd. In the face of COVID and discussions thereof on this site  posters like you and grumpy to name a few have demostrasted a lack of proficiency in this regard.  I feel sorry for you.

Watch this then come back and learn how to share disagreements civilly

Jive, this is what you said above.  I THINK we are responding to the "that will prove to be very unfortunate....".  Our point was that it's already proven and our present vaccines will not bring this to an end and we will need boosters for a yet undertermined amount of time.  AND, we live in very unfortunate times already until we have a cure for viruses.  You will have to admit that putting all of your point in one incoherent sentence might have contributed to our decision.  As for the video, there is no middle ground and there can be no middle ground.  People who choose to be unvaccinated are keeping this virus in the air so that I might be in a situation where I am forced to breathe their air and people around the world are in a constant state of dread waiting for the next wave.  This video is pure Youtube idiocy and I don't get it why supposedly educated people fall for such idiocy and think that folks who get their information from better vetted sources would even be inclined to spend a moment on Youtube editorials.

Hold on...

You tried to put me on blast and questioned whether I was a nurse for having wishful thinking about the end of the virus...

But you say "until we have a cure for viruses" .....like that may be someday possible????

Hypocrisy at its finest.

You watch a video where people with dissenting views and different experiences have a CIVIL discussion about it and call that "idiocy"? They all learned something!

If you think good communication is "idiocy" I can't and won't read anything else you have to say on this matter or on this forum.

Its scary and sad to know there are nurses among us so riddled with hostility, fear, anger, and ignorance.

Viral cures - "like someday that might be possible" smirk.  If you read the literature instead of going to You Tube for science,  you would know:  New drug could cure nearly any viral infection | MIT News | Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  And MIT is just one team working on a cure.

No, I don't think good communication is idiocy unless 2 idiots are doing it.  There is no middle-ground.  If you don't want to take one for the gipper, move to another planet and let us vaccinated people get on with our lives.

The kind thing to do is to get vaccinated and stop infecting people and causing hardships for the people who have to take care of you.  It's like spitting in their faces.
