Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

Hey guys. You do NOT need all your immunizations done before applying. Get as much as you can, but don't stress if you don't have everything done. Whatever you have done by the application deadline is what needs to be turned in (copies of shot records, etc.) and written on the immunization form. When I turned in my application, I had everything done with the exception of my TB skin test and flu vaccine because it is not in season yet. I would recommend having everything except these two done. I'm not sure who asked this earlier, but if you are in the middle of getting shots and you get the last one AFTER you turn in your application then, no, don't send that in. If you get accepted into the program then you can send it in by the deadline they will give you... otherwise they don't care after that application deadline date.

The county health department is a very good place to go to get immunizations or titers done for a very cheap price and quick results! I got my varicella titer (before application) and my TB test test (after I got accepted) done there and each one was only about $22. I had my chicken pox results in my hands in 3 or 4 days! I went to the one off Randol Mill Road in Arlington near Arlington Memorial Hospital.

I hope this helps out!

From what I have read in older posts, in Math: Know the metric/English conversion table from the book (volume and capacity, length, weight and mass (liter, gal,qt,pt,c,oz)(also know how to convert between grams, kg and lbs). Fractions, ratios, percentages . I think basically whatever is covered in the book. But What I did notice is that they don't have the conversion formulas for Celsius to Fahrenheit and vice versa. But I too am skeptical about it..I have also heard that some questions of the math portion are multiple choice and some are fill in the blank. Has anyone else heard anything about that? also with the vocabulary, is it going to be medical terminology or just geneeral vocabulary.? If I come about anymore information ill let you guys know.

Abrn- that's what I was thinking also, the sooner There's better.

Luevena- have you checked the school website? I know they have a lot of information about their program on there and I would suggest calling their counseling department I'm sure They can answer any questions you have. I don't want to give you any misleading information.

lmd- I was asking about That. thanks for the info. regarding that. I get my immunizations at the public health department in fort worth too, only 20$ a shot!

I know, me too :( I posted before I checked.

lol, yeahhh.. I was a little too anxious too, i check around 5 past midnight last night, but nothing.:rotfl:

Ladies and gents, FYI: last application period the link was not open until 5 or 6 days into the month. It will come soon enough. :)

Scheduled my HESI today. I got 9/1 and 9am. Gonna be in the first set. Just going to plug my nose and dive in. When I was there I saw two other people scheduling and they said a lot of people have sch'd today. Looked like there are 13 slots and 35 people can sch for each slot. One of the sections is learning styles. A little curious about that one.

Student-

I think you will do fine and since you are on the first round, please, let us know how it goes. I purposely scheduled mine at the end so I have enough time to prepare and see what others say about it. But depending on how anxious I am, I may reschedule it to an earlier time..

I think the personalities/learning styles is just an assessment of how you learn material. I don't think it affects your score. Here is what i read about it on a document i found via the internet ..

"Learning Styles: 14-item assessment of preferred learning style. Recommended Time: 15 minutes. (Not included in minimum score requirements)

Personality Style: 25-item assessment of personality related to preferred learning style. Students receive a printout with study tips based on their learning style and personality profile. Recommended Time: 25 minutes. (Not included in minimum score requirements)"

Loly- THANKS! =)

Also, does anyone know if there is a minimum score?
