Tarrant County Spring 2012 Applicants

Published

I am starting this for anyone who is applying for the TCC RN program in August.

Student-

I think you will do fine and since you are on the first round, please, let us know how it goes. I purposely scheduled mine at the end so I have enough time to prepare and see what others say about it. But depending on how anxious I am, I may reschedule it to an earlier time..

I think the personalities/learning styles is just an assessment of how you learn material. I don't think it affects your score. Here is what i read about it on a document i found via the internet ..

"Learning Styles: 14-item assessment of preferred learning style. Recommended Time: 15 minutes. (Not included in minimum score requirements)

Personality Style: 25-item assessment of personality related to preferred learning style. Students receive a printout with study tips based on their learning style and personality profile. Recommended Time: 25 minutes. (Not included in minimum score requirements)"

Loly- THANKS! =)

Yeah, I sure will. I'm taking classes this fall and didnt to be too stressed with them and the exam.

Also, does anyone know if there is a minimum score?

I think it is 80

80 on each section or overall ?

I called the office today, wondering where the application was, because like most of you, I was overzealous to start the application process. I spoke to Bev who said that we should recheck on Wednesday and that they're running a little bit behind.

kmart- thanks a ton! lol at least one of us had the nerve to call, haha... but i bet they have had a hoard of calls about it.

student- thats the reason I didnt take any classes this semester, i didn't want to over work myself like ive been doing, and the fact that I had no classes to take... lol

Usually different schools have the little PDF information sheet that gives us a run down on each section of the exam the the minimum scores that are needed to pass, but Ive noticed TCC doesn't do that.

Can someone tell me when you are supposed to submit for a transcrip evaluation? Like how far in advance?

You only need to do a transcript evaluation if you are transferring credits from another school to TCC, but if you do need to do that, you should put one in right away, it will take about 4-6 weeks since august is one of the busier months. Make sure you have your transcripts from your other school already turned in also.

...still no application packet..

Hello everyone! I am new here but have been following all of the TCC discussions for awhile now. I just want to start off saying good luck to everyone! I hope the application packet is uploaded soon because the suspense is killing me! :) I do have one question though...my pediatrician has retired and the only shot records I have are on my high school transcript. I know that in previous application packets there was a sign off sheet on which your physician had to sign and date when you had the shots, does anybody know if my transcript will be enough proof for those particular shots? Thanks!

welcome niki! :starornament:

they want that sign off sheet, the nurse i talked too told me they want those signatures verifying that you have been immunized.

i had sort of the same problem.

since you are going to be getting your hep b. immunizations [assuming you have not had them done already], i suggest going to the public health department or your primary physician with a copy of your shot records. if you call the clinic or office that you went to if they are still open, they should still have your records, they never get rid of them regardless if the physician is retired or not, they usually just refer you to a new one on staff.

i went to the health department with mine and i told them that my doctor also retired, they said that since i brought them my old shot records and since i am getting new vaccines, they will update my shot record, register me in the state immunization registry, and the physician administering the immunizations will sign off on all of the new and previous immunizations that i have had and am getting. because there is no way to get it from my pediatrician. (i hope this makes some sort of sense)

with the sign off sheet, fill it out as you get your shots, make sure you let the nurse know, and the physician giving you the imunnizations will sign off on them for you as long as, you have a copy of your previous shot records, that is how they verify that you have had the vaccine and not just saying you did.

i hope this helps, it can be confusing since i even confuse myself!

Thank you so much! That was not confusing at all!! :) I now have some great ideas to get this situation solved. I really appreciate it!

Hi All! I am applying for the TCC Spring 2012 program as well - and I am so very excited!! :yeah: About to finish up my A&PII at the NE campus and then finishing my "basics" in the fall - PHED, fine arts, and speech. Taking the HESI on September 1st at 2pm. Hoping to maintain my "A" in II, have A's in micro and chem and unfortunately a "C" in I (bad experience!). I'd retake A&PI with a different professor but no time . . .

I am curious about the vaccinations - my doctor chose to do a titer on ALL of the vaccinations required, saying that if my levels were high enough I wouldn't need more shots. Does that sound right? He also gave me the meningitis vaccine just as a precautionary measure.

Anxiously awaiting the application packet to be posted and hope to *see* y'all in the Spring!

KC :D
