Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.
I'm sure it's already been said somewhere in the mass of posts, but which bookstore are you guys visiting to order nametags and pick up books/supplies? I wasn't sure if everything had been transferred to the TR Campus yet, or if all of it was still located on the South Campus.
Nevermind, I found the information in our packet of paperwork. It appears I'd be better off taking an entire day off of work to get all of these things done, rather than trying to do them as time permits (my hour long lunch breaks just aren't cutting it right now). I will feel much better when everything has been crossed off of my growing To Do List.
Since I've been excepted, I've heard so many "horror" stories ,from nurses at work, about nursing school. I wonder if they are trying to make it sound worse than it is, so I will be prepared or is it going to be as tough as they say. I've heard of being assigned 25 chapters to read on the first day, and turning in a paper only to have the teacher say(without even opening it) "it feels way to light to be good enough, go work on it some more". They always end with telling me I will do fine, but jeez, they are making me nervous. Anyone else experiencing any of this?

I would like to think they are just blowing smoke to scare you. I know Nursing School is not going to be easy by any means, but I can't imagine it being that miserable. And if it is, well, we've all made it though some pretty tough classes and some awful professors to get to where we are, and I'm sure we'll continue to excel at anything that is thrown our way.
I don't expect it to be easy, but sometimes I wonder if it is like when my grandma says she walked to school in the snow 3 miles....The nurses are just having some fun with me.
I just think as long as we keep up with things and do not procrastinate it will be just fine.
Anyway, I was just curious if anyone else was hearing these horror stories.
Hi everyone! I am applying for the Spring 2012 ADN start date at TCC and have been trying to get a little inside information about my chances of getting in. I have gone through about the first 40 pages of this thread trying to find GPAs and then compare it with who got in... but I'm not having a whole lot of luck finding what I want. So I was wondering if any of you newly accepted students got in with a 3.5 or lower? I will have a 3.5 when I apply and am just curious about my chances... of course, the application process has changed. Anyways, congrats to everyone who got in! I appreciate any feedback!
Is your 3.5 GPA your overall GPA or your Science only GPA? I do know that for future application periods, starting with the class you're applying for, they are only looking at the HESI scores and the Science GPA which is obviously going to change the statistics just a bit.
I personally had a 3.75 Science GPA and a 3.89 overall prerequisite GPA and was accepted.
