Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

350 is better than 400. I'm all about the "bright side":p. I think I may head to the new campus this weekend to get a look at it.

That is still a huge increase from the previous number. But I guess its more in line with what is expected.

They may be holding out on how many they let in based on funding. With all these budget cuts being debated, college funding are expected to be lowered also, if not dropped completely.

With the nursing shortage, I think there should be more funding for nursing programs.

They should set up an info web site were we can all go look and get our questions answered. Step by step, deadline date has passed, we had X many applicants, In Process, Decisions are made, Results are In The Mail.

Me too, but from what I hear it may get cut instead.

I suspect tuition will be rising too.

On a positive note, we survived WEEK 1.

Time is crawling!! 350 is still a scary number to me though! :/ I agree with yall.. my boyfriend is getting annoyed with the waiting too. I'm sure he is eager for those letters. I'm pathetic now.. haha I walked outside to see the mailmain at our apt and was soooo excited that now I know what time he comes!! crazy, huh?!

Thank goodness for yall on allnurses!!! I don't know what I would do without reading the posts and being able to get out some nerves on here!!

I went and asked in person today. I was told that about 350ish applications were submitted. I totally forgot to ask when they they thought the letters were going to be sent. Next time!!!

Okay, I'll call tomorrow and they will probably give me a different number. When you guys call, who do you all speak with?

I also was told by the nursing advisor that once the applications are received, they are reviewed first by the secretary, then they are handed to her (nursing advisor), she checks everything over, then a next person reviews every single one and when that is all said and done they sit as a committee and review one final time. Hence, the extremely long wait we are all freaking out over.

Have I said before this is pure TORTURE? just checking...

Specializes in Oncology.

It really does make me feel better knowing I'm not alone in this waiting game, and knowing that we're all experiencing the same emotions. I wish I could stop obsessing over it and just be patient, but that's like telling a small child that Santa is coming to bring presents but you're not exactly sure when... just some time within the next 6 weeks. LOL!

So, as our applications are passing through all those hands do they throw any out? Like if there is an "I" not dotted or a "T" not crossed. Then they pass to the next person in line and she checks for any missed mistakes. Or do they just all look over them? I have come up with a 100 ways in which my application may get tossed. Like I just changed my name should I g o now and change it at the school or wait until I get my letter. I don't want to cause any confusion surrounding my application. Ughhh!!!

I think they do that so that no one makes any mistakes. I'm assuming the secretary enters it all in on the computer and then the others have to look to see if all the information is entered correctly and matches each applicant. I can see how with 400 people they have to have a system put into place and I'm grateful that nothing is overlooked, unless of course the applicant left something important out.

I would imagine that they get a lot of apps that are incomplete, don't have the hep b, don't have the qualifying grades, and/or prereqs. I'm sure they eliminate those. I wonder how they choose the best 100ish. Hmmmm. I like that with WC (and many other colleges) the point system is spelled out for you. TCC keeps it such a mystery.
