Hello,
I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.
I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.
I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.
So, as our applications are passing through all those hands do they throw any out? Like if there is an "I" not dotted or a "T" not crossed. Then they pass to the next person in line and she checks for any missed mistakes. Or do they just all look over them? I have come up with a 100 ways in which my application may get tossed. Like I just changed my name should I g o now and change it at the school or wait until I get my letter. I don't want to cause any confusion surrounding my application. Ughhh!!!
The school has a different middle name for me and on my application I put in my middle name which is current but on section that asked for other names used, I wrote in what the school had. I will deal with changing that at the school when I find out my status. It is only my middle name, my first and last match.
I don't think you should have an issue.
I would imagine that they get a lot of apps that are incomplete, don't have the hep b, don't have the qualifying grades, and/or prereqs. I'm sure they eliminate those. I wonder how they choose the best 100ish. Hmmmm. I like that with WC (and many other colleges) the point system is spelled out for you. TCC keeps it such a mystery.
They actually have a spreadsheet that they use to enter each applicant's information: Prerequisite grades, Sciences, TEAS scores, shot info, etc. Then, if I'm not mistaken, the spreadsheet ranks each applicant based on the "secret formula", and whether each applicant has completed every necessary requirement. They literally go down the list and take the top 100 names, or 130 in last semester's case, and send Acceptance letters to those. Then they take the next 20 or 30 after that for the Alternate list.
And don't forget, when they're double and triple checking the applications, they're also looking for stuff like how many times a class was repeated. Because remember, the Nursing Program only allows two attempts in any class. So a lot of the inspecting of our applications is really to make sure that each applicant is qualified to apply.
Okay, my hands are literally shaking right now. I have no idea why but just calling down to the nursing department gives me great anxiety. I spoke to the secretary, she reconfirmed the 350, she said letters will go out at the end of April and she reconfirmed that several people has to review the applications. There, I'm not calling again. Not until next week, HA! j.k.

My last name was different because I got married, so I made sure I went to the school to see that ALL of my paperwork was in one file. Come to find out, they didn't have my TEAS test in the folder because of the different name. Thank goodness I went!
hello! man i was in yalls shoes last semester! breath! your going to have a panic attack. heres what i hear. dont quote me... they are accepting 100, bc the new campus and all! it might go up after next semester, but they are accepting less than last! umm... lets see. its alot of work, and very busy, but so far been do able, with alot of stress relieving crying! i cant believe we are half way through the semester! no alternate letters dont come in big envelopes, they come in small, so dont let your heart fall out till you read the letter! and almost all alternates are accepted every year, but again dont quote me! a little over 350 is how many we had apply. but alot of people dont have classes done, and dont have shots done, so your in a good boat if you have those completed! save your money to buy uniforms and things bc nursing school isnt considered "full time" so you only get 75% of your fin aid!=) good luck to all of you!
a lady did it for me! so its the least i can do=) if i hear anything i will post! THIS is where youll find out when letters are out! and it takes two to three days once people start getting them, i learned that the hard way, so dont freak out that something happened! according to these posts, it seems competitive tho! but have faith!

I really hope mine is one that doesn't get eliminated. Either at TCC or WC. If I don't make it in I wing give up, but I will be so deflated and sad. I'm trying to stay positive but also realistic.
