Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

Published

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Loly-Congrats on the half marathon!!! I did the 10k on Saturday and had so much fun!!

Well, we've all made it through the first few days or waiting! haha!

It would be so much easier if we had an official countdown clock. Instead, we will be walking to our mailboxes between now and possibly some time in May thinking, "This could be the day!!".

It's hard to believe that one week still hasn't passed since the deadline. Everyone is right, time is going to pass so slowly.

Congrats on the weight loss--That is something I am trying to do, but failing at it. Are you just working out or doing a special diet as well?

Hi ab51! :) I've actually just been working out every day and doing the Weight Watchers program. I've had a lot of success with it in the past (60-70lbs last time). I don't actually go to the meetings or anything because that takes $$$$, but I follow the program from home. It seems to be the most flexible and inexpensive program that works for me.

Thanks, I've been considering doing the weight watchers online program. I would love to get in shape before school. Working out is a stress reliever and I need some stress relief!

I started working out, too! I can't believe I wasted free access to the gym until this semester. I also discovered

something WEIRD but COOL. Time drags when you're reading a statistics book OR when you're walking on a treadmill, watching ESPN (ugh) w/o sound. BUT time flies when you read a statistics book AND walk on the treadmill at the SAME TIME. Now I can kill two ugly birds w/ one stone, in half the time! Hope I get a chance to try it out with nursing texts in the fall. Does the TR campus have a gym? Is it nice?

TR campus has a very nice fitness facility. The nicest of any of the campuses and is open 7 days/week. The fitness center also has access to the trinity trails if you like to run/walk/bike.

Yes, like studentcl said. TR has a nice fitness facility, but it is my understanding that the allied health building is going to be located in the Trinity River East Campus, which is currently under construction. The walk won't be too far if they don't include one in there. If you guys haven't seen the new campus, I would suggest a drive down there to help pass the time :lol2: even though it might make you even more anxious about the whole thing.

I have had an eventful few days looking for my doggy that had wandered away from home. Luckily, I have found him. I actually didn't think one second about nursing school the last few days, maybe you all might want to consider letting your dog/pet wander away. j.k.

I found a link with some pictures of the new campus

Congrats on the 10 K too. It was so much fun, the experience is so worth the pain. :lol2:

:lol2: Thanks for the laugh, Loly! But, I'm glad you found him safe and sound. Where had he been hiding?

The new campus looks beautiful!! My only concern is, that like most major projects, it won't be ready in time for those who will be starting NS in the Fall, and they'll have to wait another semester to move to the TR campus. I truly hope that isn't the case though, because I think it will be a beautiful campus with amazing resources for our program.

This is my only concern as well. I've heard for a while now that the Nursing program was being moved though, so I'm hoping nothing changes and it gets done quickly. I also heard something about a Smart hospital similar to the one at UTA. Does anyone know how true this is? Those simulated hospitals are AMAZING!:yeah:

Yes, the simulation hospital is also supposed to be put in place in the new facility. And I heard that directly from the Nursing Department staff.

Well that's awesome then! Now I'm totally stoked for the Fall! :)
