Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Thanks, lmd. I was relieved to read your post before I left this morning! It was great and I picked up 3 Landau tops and 1 jacket during the break, too!

Any suggestions on what kind of bag I should get? I have been looking and there are several that seem good but what do some of you have? I plan on getting one tomorrow or saturday!!

Hi guys. I was noticing some of your posts about bag suggestions. I got a "scrapbooking rolling tote" that I plan to use for theory and skills since they are on the same day. Its pretty roomy, has alot of compartments, and opens at the top. Mostly everything fits in it! I got it Michaels for a good price! I am planning to use a seperate tote for clinicals though.

I haven't gotten one yet either so suggestions would be greatly appreciated! :)

We should only really need it for theory/skills. My friend said you barely bring anything to clinical and I normal shoulder bag is fine for that. Most clinical work is done at home prior to actually going to the hospital... According to her.

Specializes in Oncology.

So, what kind of shoes did everyone go with for Clinicals? I purchased a pair of Skechers, but I'm still kind of unsure about them. They are a croc/clog style of shoe, and I've never worn anything like it before. I went ahead and ordered them because I found a 15% off coupon code for Skechers' website, and they were about half of what I was looking to spend on tennis shoes.

What kind of shoes are you guys and gals buying?

I. got some leather (except the tounges) Keds ($18 at Ross) to start off. They have some arch support and they're washable. Hopefully six hours won't seem too long in them. I saw all white Nikes, but I don't know if the little air holes would be a problem. Anyone know?

I'm not going to enjoy wearing business casual to theory, but it's either that or change before heading over to pick out a patient once we start in the hospital.

Is anyone planning on only using the ebooks in class? What type/brand of device are you loading them on? I can't figure out how to buy the Pharm ebook. It looks like elsevier makes you buy the hard copy to then get the Pageburst redemption code. I have an older edition hard copy and I just want the new edition in an ebook!

Also I saw students a semester ahead of us say they never opened the Skills book, only it's online component that they purchased separately, yet the cid lists chapters to read from it. I wonder if the necessary content is delivered some other way or if the instructors are really making use of the textbook now.

I'm really enjoying my "last weekend" with my family. I've read my chapters and done lots of practice med calculations. I'm so ready for school tomorrow.

Hello everyone. I was just wondering if any of you has had success in accessing the dosage calculation program they sent us via email. I can't get past the login area.

Everyone ready for tomorrow?

I'm afraid I wont hear my alarm and will be LATE

You will likely not sleep tonight. My first day will be my clinical day from 1-7pm so I won't have to worry about my alarm not going off. :)

My first day will be clinical, but I have to get to school by 7am!! So I am also terrified about the alarm! I told my husband to wake me up when he gets up at 5am!! Lol
