Tarrant County Fall 2011 Applicants

U.S.A. Texas

Hello,

I'm applying to the fall nursing program in January. I'm super excited but I still have some unanswered questions. I tried calling the Nursing Dept at the South Campus and left a message but have not heard a response.

I'm trying to find out what teas version they are testing with in the spring for fall entry. I have read tons of threads from TCC for the past few semesters and it is nice to start a new one for nursing hopefuls like me.

I'm taking Micro in the fall and getting a math class knocked out for BSN. Anyway, hope to get some responses.

Oh, don't worry about it at all! I didn't mean to write that to scare you... I was just that "you're a grunt" treatment and they way he answered questions. You WILL be just fine, I promise. I didn't buy that guide either, and you definitely don't need it! They will teach you... And my frustrations might just have been because it was their first day to teach it too. Everyone that I know of passed without any problems. It's not bad at all and you will definitely be fine! :) A lot of my frustrations were because of attitude issues.. And the way he answered my questions.

And you're class will have an option, or we got asked at least, if we wanted a lunch break or not. We, of course, opted out of lunch and went straight through it! I was walking out at 1pm! So no worries there either!

Hi everyone! Just checking in. I was wondering how everyone is getting along with the readings and all the stuff we are meant to get done before our first classes? There is a lot! I have been practicing math and trying to learn the conversions (there aren't many of those but the few we have seem to be flying right out of my head!) I just can't seem to get motivated - Although, this is the most work I have EVER done before classes even start :)

Does anyone have Theory on Monday from 2:15 - 4:05?

3 wishes- It's okay that you didn't read the book. Nobody in my class did (took it yesterday). They learned from the class the day before and we just worked through lunch and left at 1. They gave plenty of breaks, and even a 20-30 minute break. The instructors were all pretty nice. I didn't have any problems. CPR is done differently now (starting in April I believe) so it's a new class, new building and everything. They were probably frustrated figuring it all out since it was the first class. Don't fret, you will be fine. Take notes also!!!

I went on Tuesday and had to walk down the stairs off belknap and then go through the glass double doors and up the elevators back to street level to that room. It wasn't bad though because there was a girl at the bottom of the stairs helping people.[/quote

lmd, I was also in Tuesday's class. I was sitting at the end by the window closest to the door, with dark brown hair.

There were 8 people in the class who failed the test the first time, there were some questions on ours over things we didnt discuss at all in class. But the instructors went over everything with us after, and admitted that they didnt go over those things and that there was still some confusion after the changes from 2010 to 2011, and they would fix it before the next class. I was still bummed though..I told them I should just drop out now, if I can't even pass the CPR class, yikes!

Also, I have been studying a lot too, I watched the Hawknurse videos, read the 2 chapters in the Foundations book, reading Chapters 4 & 5 in the Skills textbook, working through the Clinical Calculations workbook, printed and reviewing all the Skills handouts, and reading through the CIDs. Is there anything that I'm missing?

Also, I've been shopping for a wheelie bag, my friend advised me to get one big enough for your Skills pack, and quite a lot of books you'll need to keep with you, but geez, i don't want to carry a suitcase. What are you guys using?

Wow Rajah! That's a lot...But it's just like you to be organized and ahead of things! ;) Someone who is in the program said in an earlier thread that they didn't do anything before school and it was just fine. She/he said to enjoy our time off because it will be a while before we have some again. I have done some work but I think the next couple of days I might just sit back and relax, take deep breaths and have a cold glass of wine or two.

That's my plan....And I'm sticking to it!! *wine

That's my plan Caitymouse! I will be up consumed with school starting Monday, so until then I am relaxing and enjoying a week all to myself since the kids started school this past Monday!

ha. double ha.

hey, it says to do those things to be ready, and darn it, i'm gonna. i dont want to be the one with the deer in the headlights look on the first day. (well, anymore than i am normally.) I'm almost done anyway, I'm going to try to enjoy the weekend.

Rajah- yeah,... The frustrations were probably just because it was the first day for everything but I was cussin myself for taking it on the first day at that moment. Lol but I am glad I got it over with early.

Caity- I have theory mon/wed 2:15-4something with mckinney!

I'm glad I was rescheduled for CPR today. The TNSA ladies taught it and they were wonderful! Definitely a positive experience. I'm sorry some of you had the mean man. I was originally supposed to go on Tuesday. Definitely glad I didn't now.

I haven't been completely consumed by reading, but I've been trying to read a chapter or so a day, plus the CIDs. It is sorta helping me get back in the groove of things.

Great Imd! I guess I'll see you on Monday! My name is Caitlan.....Am I breaking some kind of rule doing that? I guess I'm living on the edge, not reading my chapters AND giving my real name!! :)
