Hi, Are any of y'all applying to TCC for the fall? I'm a bit confused on how they will be choosing students. On the Tcc website it says they are only looking at the HESI scores. I just took my HESI and I got a 86 I'm really nervous about it. should I retake and try to get a higher grade?

I think its a mixture between your GPA and the HESI scores. I would ask an advisor more about this.

I think for Fall they are now only going by HESI scores.

Hi! I'm from the Spring 2020 cohort. TCC will only be looking at HESI scores. They used to consider HESI scores and pre-requisite class grades (A&P I and II; microbiology). Now they require applicants to take the Anatomy and Physiology section of the HESI, so they have no reason to consider the grade in those classes. However, the pre-requisites still have to be completed before applying to the program. I believe you have to include your GPA in the application, but they don't consider it when deciding who to accept.
I would recommend retaking the test. In my cohort and the one before mine, most people had at least a 90. There is a Facebook group for your cohort that you can join--I would recommend getting on there and asking people what they got on the HESI. Best of luck to you, it's a great program!

So only HESI scores are used to rank applicants for FALL 2020. Also, this time around they are not accepting paper application, everything will be online.
Anyway I got 93.60 on the HESI, I hope that is competitive to get in. I applied to Brookhaven and Mountain View last Spring20 application, I got accepted for both but ended up withdrawing because I liked the TCC set up on how they distributed classes. I think TCC is setting student up for success.
Good y'all!
What HESI score does everybody got?

So when you say you like how TCC does their classes, what do you mean by this? Is there a certain way the curriculum is set up that you like? Explain further- I am curious to know :)

Their classes are spread out evenly which I liked because I need to work during the program. The first semester (fall) is 3 classes like mountain view and brookhaven (Fundamentals, clinical and skills), Second semester (spring) is only 2 classes (medsurg and clinical), 3rd semester which is done in the first summer is 2 classes (mental health and clinical), 4th semester is divided into two; first 8 weeks will peds and clinical and the second 8 weeks will be ob and clinical, 5th which is the last semester is 2 classes (critical care and clinical). The set up is not too crowded unlike Brookhaven and mountain view.
In comparison mountain view and brookhaven
1st semester--3 classes (fundamentals, clinical and skills)
2nd semester-5 classes (medsurg and clinical, mental health and clinical, nursing skills 2)
3rd semester--ob and clinical, peds and clinical
4th semester- critical care and clinical.
ALL 16 weeks each semester.

Ah, okay. I'm glad you posted this. It gives me much to think about. I applied to El Centro and waiting to apply to Brookhaven. I was also interested in Tarrant County but wasn't sure how their curriculum is setup. I don't hear many people mention TCC nursing program like they mention DCCCD's nursing programs. I'm glad they are doing the application online but not through nursing cas. That can be a pain. lol
@shauntil07Did you apply for TCC already?

Yes, I did but haven't heard back yet as far as being accepted. I am going to send my transcripts today.

They accept 150 students per semester and they have a concurrent agreement with MSU Flower Mound where in you can take classes for BSN while doing your ADN. By the time you graduate your ADN you already finished 4 classes from MSU.

El Centro's curriculum is different also, they are the same as Collin College's.
1st sem--5 classes
2nd-3 classes
3rd-3 classes
4th- 3 classes
