Tarrant county college Nursing fall 2020

Published

Hi, Are any of y'all applying to TCC for the fall? I'm a bit confused on how they will be choosing students. On the Tcc website it says they are only looking at the HESI scores. I just took my HESI and I got a 86 I'm really nervous about it. should I retake and try to get a higher grade?

Oh you meant apply to the nursing program for TCC. No, not yet. But I did apply to the actual school and I'm going to send my transcripts over because I think that's what they are waiting on as well. But hav eI applied to the nursing program yet? No.

They accept 150 students per semester and they have a concurrent agreement with MSU Flower Mound where in you can take classes for BSN while doing your ADN. By the time you graduate your ADN you already finished 4 classes from MSU.

Application for nursing is until March 31st.

So I wonder after you finish the classes at Tarrant County for your ADN and the four classes for the BSN at Midwestern-how long afterwards would it take for you to finish your BSN? 6 months? 9 months? 3 months?

it depends on how fast you are. I think as short as 9 to 10 months to finish because after ADN and 4 classes from MSU you only need 6 more classes from them to finish.

Oh okay.

Hey everyone I am also applying to the Tarrant nursing program, but recently just found the school so I am feeling a little behind. I got a 92.6 on my Hesi exam so I hope that is somewhat competitive for the program. I already submitted my Brookhaven college application as well.

Hey @rnpriis! I applied to Brookhaven as well. 92.6 is a great score! I scored 92.4 so I think our HESI scores are good enough. I haven’t turned my app in yet because I have to go to admissions and get everything started because I don’t have my Id and other things done yet for admissions. But I will apply sometime next month.

I like the fact that you can take more of those BSN classes during the school year at Tarrant County versus Brookhaven where you can only take two before and that's it.

Hi! I'm from the Spring 2020 cohort. TCC will only be looking at HESI scores. They used to consider HESI scores and pre-requisite class grades (A&P I and II; Microbiology). Now they require applicants to take the Anatomy and Physiology section of the HESI, so they have no reason to consider the grade in those classes. However, the pre-requisites still have to be completed before applying to the program. I believe you have to include your GPA in the application, but they don't consider it when deciding who to accept.

I would recommend retaking the test. In my cohort and the one before mine, most people had at least a 90. There is a facebook group for your cohort that you can join--I would recommend getting on there and asking people what they got on the HESI. Best of luck to you, it's a great program!

Hi! Are you 100% sure they will only be looking at HESI scores? I tried finding that on the TCC website, but cant find it anywhere. I tried calling an adviser to confirm, but they are closed the entire week for Spring break.

Yes, it is in the nursing application packet. The powerpoint states that they will only look at HESI scores. For Spring, it was 50/50 HESI scores and GPA.

Found it in the PowerPoint! Thanks for your help :)

I applied with the same HESI score last year and did not get in! OA I'm hoping this year is better with the 2 extra classes I took.
