Hi, Are any of y'all applying to TCC for the fall? I'm a bit confused on how they will be choosing students. On the Tcc website it says they are only looking at the HESI scores. I just took my HESI and I got a 86 I'm really nervous about it. should I retake and try to get a higher grade?

Very good question. I'm not sure. I know El Centro is trying to set up more HESI dates but exactly when those are going to be back I don't know.

I've turned in mine! The better HESI I took averaged to a 94.0% (the other was a 93.2%). I'm hoping this is enough for acceptance, but I'm looking at applying to El Centro as well, just to explore my options. It looks like they keep pushing the application and acceptance deadline back... according to the nursing page, we have until May 10 to apply and we should be notified May 22. As if I wasn't anxious enough to hear back!
Are we supposed to do anything specific when it comes to fall registration? I'm assuming they'll help us register if/when we are accepted into the program, but I want to be sure I'm not missing anything!

This is an update. They must've just changed that yesterday because when I saw it like Thursday, it was still April 19. This COVID mess is messing up everthing...ugh! I was in the process of turning everything in but I didn't finish the application yet. Plus, I'm trying to figure out how to turn in my immunizations as many of them are not on the same form...so I'm going to email them and see how to turn that in. I think they will help us register since those would be nursing courses but I'm just assuming.

For our class, they emailed a survey that asks you about when you want to take clinical, theory, and skills. It allows you to rank days and times in order to indicate your most preferred to least preferred schedule. The sooner you complete the survey, the more priority you get when they configure everyone's schedules. They will then email everyone's clinical groups and class schedule. We were initially told to register ourselves in the course sections that they assigned us, but there was a glitch in the system so they ended up doing it for us. For subsequent semesters, they email out a survey but allow you to pick your own theory class; the only thing they assign is clinical (skills is only in the first semester). Once they send you clinical section number, you register for that and whichever theory you want.

I believe that you can do this one of two ways: you can take a form from the application and your immunization records to a health care provider and have them sign saying that you've received all the required vaccinations, or you can just submit the records as they are with the application (I submitted both the form and my records when I applied, just to be safe). Either way, you'll need to scan and upload the records into the digital compliance tracking system after you're accepted. I would still email and ask, though, in case they've changed things ?

Thanks for this information. I like that you can pick your theory class because (don't quote me on this) I think at Dallas schools, the faculty has to put in those classes. Don't hold it to me though.
I submitted my application today! With all of the changes because of the pandemic, my anxiety is high! I really hope they don’t push it back any further LOL I joined the FB group as well.
A&P - A
A&P - A
Micro - B
HESI - 90% (AP 96, grammar 90, vocab 90, math 90, and reading 84) I was tired at the end and I’m so mad about it bc I definitely scored a 98 on reading the first time but my overall score is better so fingers crossed!

The first semester (fall) is 3 classes like mountain view and brookhaven (Fundamentals, clinical and skills), Second semester (Spring) is only 2 classes (medsurg and clinical), 3rd semester which is done in the first Summer is 2 classes (mental health and clinical), 4th semester is divided into two; first 8 weeks will peds and clinical and the second 8 weeks will be ob and clinical, 5th which is the last semester is 2 classes (critical care and clinical). The set up is not too crowded unlike Brookhaven and mountain view.
In comparison mountain view and brookhaven
1st semester--3 classes (fundamentals, clinical and skills)
2nd semester-5 classes (medsurg and clinical, mental health and clinical, nursing skills 2)
3rd semester--ob and clinical, peds and clinical
4th semester- critical care and clinical.
ALL 16 weeks each semester.
I actually just graduated from Brookhaven in December and I worked full time (36-40) at first as a medical assistant and then as a PCT and it worked out fine for me. I was accepted to both TCC and Brookhaven and choose them because it only took 16 months to complete the program. If I had went with TCC I would just be graduating this May. It is definitely a doable program while working. Plus last Summer I did my two Texas Tech classes, and while taking my Summer Brookhaven courses.
Unless something change
Med-Surg is 10 weeks (First half is Spring) and Mental Health is 5 weeks (Last five weeks of Spring)
Ob/GYn is Five weeks starting end of May and Pediatrics is five weeks starting beginning of July
all other courses are 16 weeks.

WOW!...it makes you wonder are there other things they look for they aren't telling us? hmmm...but did you see they also extended the deadline as well to April 19 due to the coronavirus?
