I realize that many people are getting tired about all of the talk about the nclex; however, i feel that if someone has a concern about the nclex or just wants to talk about the nclex--Then they should be able to do that. For many new grads including myself, the Nclex is a HUGE thing. Think about it: there is a lot of pressure to pass riding on one test. I can not speak for everyone but I don't know a lot of people that I can share my concerns about the Nclex. I feel that I can share my concerns with people who are in the same situation as me.
All I am saying is that : let people talk about is on their minds. If it happens to be about the nclex, then so be it. If the talk about Nclex is tiring to you, then do not read that thread. Thanks for letting me speak:)
yah sure..the answers will be right in front of me I just have to choose between the four..but I do get nervous..I think it is normal to be nervous..isnt it :uhoh21: i will take nclex on march 30..wish me luck guys!!! (I know its not only luck I need..I am studying ok..)thanks for posting tips here in taking the exam this bulletin board is really a BIG help :roll
I do understand the need to discuss NCLEX, and YES it is stressful! However, I needed a break from the NCLEX chat for a minute. I thought I would start a thread that new grads could relate to that DID NOT discuss the test for once. I needed some relief! By all means, if you need to talk about it, please do. That is what we're here for, right? But at the same time, I needed some other support from new grads that didn't involve NCLEX.To help better clarify my frustration with NCLEX at the moment, I will say this: I applied to the board of nursing in early NOVEMBER and I still haven't heard anything. I am STILL waiting on my ATT, and I have NO IDEA when it will arrive. However, I am starting a new job, and that is one thing to relieve my stress, so I was using displacement to ease my frustrations!

and Treddrn, you know you can always talk to me. We are in the same boat, after all. You know how people treat me about the test. It's always, "well, you haven't taken it yet?" or "when are you going to take the test" or "wow, it sure is taking a long time for you to get your approval. You know such-and-such got hers in under a week!" And let's not forget the "oh, well, I don't know why you are stressing over this test, it's just a test, and you ALWAYS make good grades, so you will pass" comments that my family loves to pile on me! Let's also not forget the fact that my husband is currently unemployed and I need a job to support my family! So, yeah, I understand your situation!!!
seriously.. you applied in November and havent heard anything? My ATT was available 2 weeks after applying to the BON in my state, and I test for NCLEX next month. You should follow up, methinks your info got lost.
I'm a graduate LVN. I'm looking at these posts with interest. My heart goes out to everyone waiting to hear from their board. The interesting thing, is that I agonized over hearing from my Board in California too. I mean agonized. I finally heard from them 5 weeks later by mail. I decided to go online to register with Pearson, right? I kid you not, I got my confirmation by email in about 10 seconds, and then the ATT in another 5 seconds. Considering that I wanted it so bad, it was really comical at how my B/P SHOT up in a not so good way when that happened so fast (my cat has a testimony). You see, I was ready for the long haul. I can't speak for anyone's state board, but I can for Pearson. They came through fast and furious for me; both in registering, receiving the ATT and scheduling the test. Haven't taken it yet, but I just wanted to encourage everybody to register online. It's incredibly fast compared to snail mail, after your board approves your application and deems you eligible to take the test. Hope this helps someone. Excuse, please, the longwindedness.
I would just like to make a comment here:I am a UK RN and about to re-sit the NCLEX in Florida next week..arghhhhh - I am stressed can you tell!!
(I failed in November)
I think all you guys are great and I lurk here quite often to get reassurance/tips etc.
Everytime there is a thread on NCLEX I read it!! I am consumed with the exam at the moment. Unfortunately only 35% international nurses pass the NCLEX the first time, partly because in the USA things are done slightly different and for me in particular I have been an RN for 14 yrs and base a lot of my answers on how I do things which is obviously not the way to answer questions esp. as I have been a Nursing Home manager for 10 yrs (and there is a lot of things in nursing I havent been exposed to in a long time!)
I just want to wish you all well in your NCLEX exams and upcoming jobs thereafter:)
Hi All,
I too am a UK Psych & General nurse (RMN & RGN) I took the Nclex RN last week and i too failed. Plan to continue studying and take it again. I took mine in london.
I live in Northern Ireland and i think when UK nurses start to revise for Nclex RN we think we have to cover our own experience of Adult (general) nursing we are very much mistaken. What i didnt realise from day one is what i needed to do is study the exam the Americian way. Once i got that into my head things became alot easier. Sitting and failing i know has not lost me heart i will resit again in August - September i guess (45 days after my last exam)
I feel it is more difficult for UK nurses 1st time around anyway because unlike our Americian colleagues who have not worked as an RN (they are required to pass Nclex Rn or PN first before they start to work as an RN) whereas all Uk nurses have worked and now we have to back track and answer the questions from a student nurses perspective. It is really difficult
I too come to this site to read messages and feel i am given support and encouragment a few giggles and a bit of craic reading other peoples messages THANKS
A warm welcome from me in Northern Ireland
The nclex is a big deal and it should be talked about. I graduated from a registered nursing program 11 years ago. At that time I took the nclex test several times and failed. I began a career doing something else out of frustration. I wish I had of went back and tried again at least 10 years ago. I am getting ready to start studying again for the nclex test. I have alot of work to do, but I feel more confident now than I did 11 years ago. I know that I can pass the nclex test, and I know that I will. There is a great support team on this web-site and if we encourage and support one another, we all will succeed. Let's continue to talk about the test and help each other to get over some of the fears. It's definitely something that needs to be talked about. There are several web-sites that can possibly assist you in preparing for the test. Go to Yahoo and put in "classes to prepare for NCLEX" and search. Hope some of these sites are helpful. Good Luck! I'll definitely let you guys know how I do when I take the test again. It won't be until the ending of the year, because I have lot's of studying to do. We can do it! Believe it and achieve it!
hi! its nice having this threads, at least i can ask someone questions about nclex...i recently took the nclex exam for the state of california in hong kong last may 8,,, and i just received my letter and i passed the exam but my question is, it says in my letter that i need a Social Security No. before they issue me my license....the letter looks like a form that should be sent back to california BON... so does it mean that i have to be employed in califoria first to get the SSN? then send them back the form w/ my SSN?
what would be my next step? pls. help...i really dont have any idea about it coz most of my friends took the NCLEX for another state and not california...thanks so much...hope 2 hear from u all :wink2:
