I realize that many people are getting tired about all of the talk about the nclex; however, i feel that if someone has a concern about the nclex or just wants to talk about the nclex--Then they should be able to do that. For many new grads including myself, the Nclex is a HUGE thing. Think about it: there is a lot of pressure to pass riding on one test. I can not speak for everyone but I don't know a lot of people that I can share my concerns about the Nclex. I feel that I can share my concerns with people who are in the same situation as me.
All I am saying is that : let people talk about is on their minds. If it happens to be about the nclex, then so be it. If the talk about Nclex is tiring to you, then do not read that thread. Thanks for letting me speak:)

Well, I got my permit today, but not from Texas. I applied to the VA board as well, and they are much faster. I called pearson and changed my state from Texas to VA. So I will be getting an ATT soon.
I also called the TX BNE today to ask about the hold up, and they said that i have some sort of eligibility issue and they were REALLY RUDE!!!! I have to talk to some girl who wasn't even there!! OH, and they NEVER sent me a letter saying there was an issue. I guess I was just supposed to wait around forever until they decided what they need to do?? If I hadn't called, I would probably wait until the end of the year for them! Oh, how annoying they are. I have decided that TExas is not worth my time right now. I will seek licensure in VA and if I still choose to go to Tx, I will reciprocate my license from VA. Maybe you should call the Tx BNE to check on your application too, just in case there is an eligibility issue you aren't aware of.
Hope things go well for you!
I am really interested in what other Grad Nurses have to say cuz I will be in your shoes come December 04 and I am wondering when you all actually started reviewing for the NCLEX? I am only in my third semester (I have summer & fall sem. left) but do you think I should be getting comfortable with some NLCEX stuff now?? I am already stressed with school, but i just wonder if it is in my best interest to start early? Any feedback would be super...Thanks and good luck to everyone!
Butrflygurl,
I would advice you to start practicing nclex questions now. For example, if you are having a test about Oncology, then study Oncology nclex questions from various nclex review books. I have been advised by one of my previous instructors that you should complete between 3000-5000 nclex questions before you take your boards. So you should start now.
I would just like to make a comment here:I am a UK RN and about to re-sit the NCLEX in Florida next week..arghhhhh - I am stressed can you tell!!
(I failed in November)
I think all you guys are great and I lurk here quite often to get reassurance/tips etc.
Everytime there is a thread on NCLEX I read it!! I am consumed with the exam at the moment. Unfortunately only 35% international nurses pass the NCLEX the first time, partly because in the USA things are done slightly different and for me in particular I have been an RN for 14 yrs and base a lot of my answers on how I do things which is obviously not the way to answer questions esp. as I have been a Nursing Home manager for 10 yrs (and there is a lot of things in nursing I havent been exposed to in a long time!)
I just want to wish you all well in your NCLEX exams and upcoming jobs thereafter:)
Just to update everyone - I just got back to the Uk from Florida and I passed with 76 questions///yippeee
So thank-you all for your comments and support even though I have only be a lurker on this part of the board....
Hopefully I will be moving to Florida as soon as Immigration gets sorted..
Good luck to anyone to is about to take the NCLEX or is waiting for the results... :balloons:
Congratulation, will done. i will be taking my test here very soon,i have been putting this off for a long time, and it is time do you have any advice for me, what to focuse on the thing is you don,t know what is going to be on the test.,
My advise is to remember to breathe - get the oxygen to your lungs! Also to have a plan..i.e. if the computer doesnt switch off at 75 have a break perhaps and get refocused if concerntration is lapsing.
I planned to have a break after 75, but when the computer didnt switch off I said to myself i will do a few more questions and then have a break...didnt need one as the computer switched off at 76!!!!!
