I realize that many people are getting tired about all of the talk about the nclex; however, i feel that if someone has a concern about the nclex or just wants to talk about the nclex--Then they should be able to do that. For many new grads including myself, the Nclex is a HUGE thing. Think about it: there is a lot of pressure to pass riding on one test. I can not speak for everyone but I don't know a lot of people that I can share my concerns about the Nclex. I feel that I can share my concerns with people who are in the same situation as me.
All I am saying is that : let people talk about is on their minds. If it happens to be about the nclex, then so be it. If the talk about Nclex is tiring to you, then do not read that thread. Thanks for letting me speak:)

obnurse2004, I agree with you. What's the use in not talking about NCLEX.....??? It doesn't help to concentrate only on a job because that job will only last but so long if you don't pass the NCLEX. Talking about the NCLEX helps a lot. I have found out that I need to review more on growth and development because of NCLEX discussions. How bad will a person feel if they get their dream job and have to give it up because they didn't concentrate more on the NCLEX. It will probably make them feel sick. :imbar Well, I guess that will become a post here on allnurses.com and we will all console them with kind and caring words of hope.
So let's discuss NCLEX and help everyone to pass that dreaded test that controls our future.
Besides, who else will understand your frustration and anxiety other than people here at allnurses.com?? I can't talk to anyone about it. I will just get, "oh, you will do fine!" They don't have any idea what a person has to go through when preparing for NCLEX, taking NCLEX and waiting for the NCLEX results. What torture!

I do understand the need to discuss NCLEX, and YES it is stressful! However, I needed a break from the NCLEX chat for a minute. I thought I would start a thread that new grads could relate to that DID NOT discuss the test for once. I needed some relief! By all means, if you need to talk about it, please do. That is what we're here for, right? But at the same time, I needed some other support from new grads that didn't involve NCLEX.
To help better clarify my frustration with NCLEX at the moment, I will say this: I applied to the board of nursing in early NOVEMBER and I still haven't heard anything. I am STILL waiting on my ATT, and I have NO IDEA when it will arrive. However, I am starting a new job, and that is one thing to relieve my stress, so I was using displacement to ease my frustrations!
and Treddrn, you know you can always talk to me. We are in the same boat, after all. You know how people treat me about the test. It's always, "well, you haven't taken it yet?" or "when are you going to take the test" or "wow, it sure is taking a long time for you to get your approval. You know such-and-such got hers in under a week!" And let's not forget the "oh, well, I don't know why you are stressing over this test, it's just a test, and you ALWAYS make good grades, so you will pass" comments that my family loves to pile on me! Let's also not forget the fact that my husband is currently unemployed and I need a job to support my family! So, yeah, I understand your situation!!!
Nekhismom,
I have a good one people like to say...."oh , don't worry, your ATT is in the mail!"
Well, don't stress because even though you applied for your NCLEX in November, nothing could have been done until your transcripts were sent. And you know that wasn't until after 12/16. Then because of the holiday, the NCLEX people or the BON had to let the papers sit on their desk until after Christmas....and then New Years. And now it is going to take a month before anyone gets back into their normal work routine. Oh, don't forget that if it snows.......they take 2-3 snow days!!! So, don't worry, your ATT is in the mail!

I would just like to make a comment here:
I am a UK RN and about to re-sit the NCLEX in Florida next week..arghhhhh - I am stressed can you tell!! (I failed in November)
I think all you guys are great and I lurk here quite often to get reassurance/tips etc.
Everytime there is a thread on NCLEX I read it!! I am consumed with the exam at the moment. Unfortunately only 35% international nurses pass the NCLEX the first time, partly because in the USA things are done slightly different and for me in particular I have been an RN for 14 yrs and base a lot of my answers on how I do things which is obviously not the way to answer questions esp. as I have been a Nursing Home manager for 10 yrs (and there is a lot of things in nursing I havent been exposed to in a long time!)
I just want to wish you all well in your NCLEX exams and upcoming jobs thereafter:)

I will be graduating in May, and I come to the graduate forum alot. I get lots of tips on what to study for the NCLEX and I pass them on the my classmates. I also get so happy when somebody posts to say that they have passed, it gives me hope. I love reading the NCLEX threads and I hope people continue to post about this dreaded test. Thanks so much for all the help all of you have given me!

Michelle I agree with your post on talking about NCLEx. Somebody can just skip the thread if it is their thing. To all of us that are about to take the dreaded test, we are going to do great! I am sending positive thoughts on succesfully passing to each and everyone of you, including myself. Sue I know you are going to do great this time around. Hang in there. Study hard. Let us know how it goes.

I, too, graduated in December and still have not gotten my ATT. I am very nervous and love reading the threads about the NCLEX. I also enjoy getting the posts when someone has passed. I only wish it were me that is taking the NCLEX on Monday .
I wish all of you the best of luck who are about to test next week and I will continue to study, study, study and read the posts about NCLEX

Last June when I was studying for the NCLEX, this forum was my support. It was where I could be with others who were in the same boat and we were all each other's cheering section (along with our families and friends).
NCLEX is a rite of passage for all nursing students, and I think I speak for many when I say it was the toughest exam I have ever had to prepare for, take, and pass. When I did take it, one of the first things I did was to post on this forum. When I learned I had passed it two days later, one of the first things I did was to share it on this forum. The names of those who responded to me, and were there for me, are familiar to me to this day. And I really appreciated them for being there for me. And I tried to be there as well for them.
Now it is seven months later, and the NCLEX is behind me. However, I am still a new nurse, still learning, still wondering if I will ever get to the point where I feel comfortable in the role of RN. And so now, I welcome an opportunity to share with those who are also still in their first year and learning to fly, as I am.
So, let us all welcome each other, "be there" for each other, and share with each other as we all go through the stages of becoming that experienced, knowledgeable, and skilled RN that we all want to be!
Ok, let me clarify my position. I am ALWAYS glad to hear when someone passed. I love to congratulate people on the accomplishment, because I know it truly is a HUGE accomplishment. I do think this forum provides a GREAT place to ask for advice and to share frustrations. SO that is EXACTLY what I did. I shared my frustration with all posts NCLEX. I also explained myself in that thread by saying that i applied to my BON in NOVEMBER and I still have not received my ATT. I also said that, "in order to preserve my sanity" I NEEDED to talk about something OTHER than NCLEX with other new grads. But I have responded to several NCLEX posts since then. I was just a mood on that particular day, and I also apologized at the end of the post for being grumpy, and thanked everyone for allowing me to vent. So, in a way, even the ANTI- NCLEX post was about NCLEX.
Hey,
You do not need to appologize at all.. I understand being anxious about the NCLEX. I, too, have not received my ATT OR my permit. So I understand completely. Maybe soon, it will be you and me posting that we are through with the NCLEX and passed!!
Lots of luck to you and hang in there!
