**i have done 450 kaplan q bank questions as of friday
3 kaplan q tests = 300 questions
kaplan pre diagostic test 180q, post test 180 q
by march 19th -sunday- i need to have finished a total of 1200 kaplan q bank questions and 4 more q exams inorder to be eligible for their refund policy and really be in good shape for the exam so i have a ways to go.
I bet you passed. Are you going to do the PVT?
To answer your question, i just did the PVT trick approx 2hrs and 20mins after I finished my test. I got a pop up that said:
Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam.
Please contact your member board of nursing for assistance.
Another registration can not be made at this time.
I don't want to get too excited so I'm going to pay for the quick results on Friday or Monday. I'm cautiously optimistic and starting to get a headache. I'm so glad that I was finally able to take the test after so much studying. I'm going to believe that this is a good sign.
Also wanted to say that I strongly, strongly recommend doing lots of:
priority questions i.e who would the nurse see first
Delegation questions- which nurse gets what patient
Psych- know pych- I had about 4-5 psych questions and about 1 ob
1-2 early childhood development question like what a yount baby should be doing or toddler
and off course infection control specifically which disease is what category and the PPE worn or required. Strategy didn't really help me, in fact I abandoned it, as there weren't many questions that would apply. There were several questions with quotes and/or that required a therapeutic response from the nurse or the patient stating either a correct or wrong fact as it relates to their meds/disease/care.
There is no secret, you have to know the content and more importantly know how to apply it as most of the exam is not a direct content/question/answer test.
@newgoalrn
Congrats in advance....by God's grace you've already passed, just waiting for the confirmation.
Im taking NCLEX RN for the 2nd time 4-20-2012...took it 3-5-2012 & wasnt sucessful.
The 1st time I only used saunders for question doing 100 or more a day. Looked over Allnurses cheat sheet once or twice....found out about this website late.
This time around im doing kaplan on demand, pda, nclex 4000. Do you have any recommendations? Any form of schedule or structure to follow? Currently, im not working....
What do you think helped you??
AJ
I will post a detail of what I did and what i thought helped later today.
Yes, Kaplan helped me in that the doing all the questions forced me to see and acknowledge patterns within the questions and how to pick up on things they will looking for based on things in the stem.
Their screens were exactly like Nclex so it was familiar i.e the blue screens, the next at the bottom of the screen etc, the clock at the top right etc
Doing their questions all 1200 and the test banks, all 7 improved my psyche especially in how to answer therapeutic questions and how to pick out not to ever pick, 'why' questions etc, their rationales were simple and too the point.
I didn't care for their content videos etc and i didn't really use their strategy or decision tree although taking from them never to pick pain unless it's for burns, kidney stones or sickle cell and to use the ABCs and never pick psychological over physical answer and Maslow.
Hurst content video and book that you filled out while listening to the videos helped me immensely. It was great as I didn't have the attention span or where with all to read any of my 4 nclex prep books in details. I flipped through them if I wasn't clear on anything but Hurst content was short and too the point and gave me verthing I needed.
Having said that, there is really no 'specific' way to prepare for the test. I had really 1 math simple question, and lots of priority/delegation questions which doing Kaplan asoblutely prepared me for i.e their test banks and questions in this area were just like NCLEX.

Well I took the NCLEX at 8am this moring.
I honestly don't know. I felt like I was guessing for the most part of it. Even when I got it down to 2 answers, it felt like it was a toss up.
I'm not exactly enthused as i only had 10 SATA and from posts here it seems the ones who passed had 16 or more.
I got 90 questions before the computer shut off. It shut off at 79 after 2 hrs and I took a break. Then after about 15-20mins, it shut off again. I was so surprised that I barely noticed what # question I was at. I think it was 90.
I had about 4 meds, 3 of them I didn't know, one input/calculation- fill in the blank, no other calc question, no drag/drop, do diagrams etc.
I had a TON of priority and delegation questions but more so priority. Several psych questions, about 1 ob, about 3 or 4 infection control etc.
Honestly, I don't know how one can study for this exam. I had about 3-4 therapeutic communication questions.
I really don't know. I prayed before the test so it's all in God's hands now.
