  1. How many hours do you work? Do you get overtime or do you work a 2nd job? That is a high salary for Florida. Good for you!!
  2. How long is your residency program for and did you have to sign a contract? If so, for how many years? That is a very good starting salary for the Tampa Bay area.
  3. @Esme12 Thank you so much for those brain sheets. I printed and saved most of them, I like the 5pg patient tool and the report sheet tool. Thanks again a bunch!
  4. PSA is decent. Their pay is low but it's because they are tied to Medicare/Medicaid funding which alot of their clients have. They provide decent training and if you are a new grad they are one of the few places that will take a chance on you and give you a job once you pass their screening, interview and exams. Once you get some experience, this on your resume should help you get a better job. Their training through Mosby is excellent. I know nurses here in Floriday, level one RN that make $17 with $1 for weekend or overnight differential so that's $18 as a level 1 nurse or little experience. They pay weekly and their money isn't funny. You don't get mileage but you can choose and refuse your assignments.
  5. Please share what the reasons are? Thanks
  6. They r legit, offer training etc but low pay
  7. That is an extremely high salary for a new grad. Will you be on a specialty floor? That is almost $30/hr for nights!!!
  8. Wow, that school seems to be a scam. I hope that your website is a warming to students who are so eager to get in to any nursing program that they abandon their commen sense filters. There were many red signs and bells going off. I hope that you were eventually able to get into another program that is more ethical and professional.
  9. It is challenging to find a job in the central fl area as a new grad especially if you have no experience and if you don't have a BSN. Have someone or several people look over your job. Consider all nursing jobs from clinics to hospice to nursing homes to hospital. Tampa's cost of living is definitely lower than South florida. The pay may be a bit lower but the lower cost of living makes up for it.
  10. I don't know much about this new school but I would suggest looking on the Florida BON's website to see how other Keiser nursing programs have done regarding their NCLEX pass rate. That would be a good indicator for me. I believe that they have a campus in St Petersburg and one in Orlando that has a RN program.
  11. this is true. What floor do you work on? are you BSN or ASN? I've heard good things about this program although I haven't heard from anyone who has graduated from the program.I like the fact that they have a learning component to the program although it is not as long as All Children's 1 year residency.
  12. thank you and yes it seems that many of the tampa hospitals are moving towards hiring only bsns as new nurses. it's definitely the trend now.

  14. I've applied and I haven't heard anything at all.
  15. Thanks for taking the time to paint a picture of a day in your life as a tele nurse for us. You did a great job. I had these questions for you: As a new nurse on a tele floor, did you or have you done ACLS? Did you have any EKG reading experience and / or have you done a Basic EKG or 12 Lead EKG class and would you recommend it?\\ How long was your training? Did you train with a precept and when did you get your first patients on your own? do you feel that your training was enough before going on your own? What do you think prepared you for this postions besides waitressing if anything? Would you recommend any classes?
