Anyone else taking A&P I this fall? I am taking it, along with four other classes. I'm really nervous because I have heard its extremely difficult! Hopefully those of us taking it this fall can help each other out when we have a question, so please reply here if you're one of the lucky ones haha!
Joining this thread with the rest of you,
I'm taking Anatomy w/Lab (cadavers) & Psychology. Classes started today... I LOVE my Anatomy Instructor... I dropped Anatomy after 2.5 wks during summer semester... way to fast and too much information all at once (plus the summer instructor was awful!)
I just completed my CNA while waiting for fall semester to start... Hope we can all share some great study tips & help each other out with questions/suggestions :wink2:
I'm taking General Biology, English I, General Psychology and Intro to Computers along with A&P I.
Your courses are similar to mine - I'm taking Gen. Psych., Biology I, Core Math I, and College Writing I. I'm surprised you could take A/P with general biology? You are gonna be one mad studying student... :wink2: I am really looking forward to A/P class, even though I keep hearing it's tough. I was kinda bummed I couldn't take it this semester but my advisor suggested I take biology first since the last time I took biology was in high school, about ten years ago. Good luck to us all!!
Hey all!
I have started A&P. Not too bad really, but I did spend Friday and Saturday night studying and doing flashcards. Who wouldn't wanna be me?
Not sure what text everyone is using, but I am using Marieb 8th ed. with Michael Phelps on the cover. The online tools are pretty cool, complete with crossword puzzles and flash cards.
Just wanted to put that out there. Good luck!!
hey, yea there's a ton of us in a&p this fall :) goodness, i'm in my second week and yep loads of notes, lectures, reading, studying, did i mention reading, and studying? hopefully we all make it through!! i'm using the new edition of marieb good luck to all!! that would be cool if we could set up a study group... the more we use the knowledge and terms the better we will be!!
What is everyone's first subject/unit? My professor started with what she believes to be the hardest unit: histology. As I have been studying it over the past week, I wouldn't necessarily call it the hardest, but it has to be the most detailed and tedious. I already have almost 200 flashcards!!! Though she said that in every API course she's taught, the students who do well/ace this first unit exam tend to ace the course because it slows down (not significantly, but enough) from here, and if you can keep up with histology, you can keep up with the rest. Anyone else starting with histology?
Hey all. I am in my 2nd week of A&P1. Just had our first quiz in Lab today on body organization. I got a 9 out of 10 correct:-) So far it isn't so bad but yes it is alottttt of reading and memorization for sure. My first quiz in the Lecture part of the class is on Thursday so guess what I am doing at 1:00am...yup STUDYING!!!!
Good luck to all of us!
I am taking A&P and Ethics this semester. I need to stay focused and study but I've been lazy this week. I got a 100% on my first lecture quiz but I bombed my first lab quiz. I'm kicking myself b/c I did study but I didn't focus on the right material. I now know I have to study every piece of material. I won't have lab for another 2 weeks so I have plenty of time to study for my next quiz. My professor gives us a quiz every week in lecture and lab. He drops the lowest lab quiz grade and will only average 10 of our lecture quizzes. I'm scared. I really want to do well but I feel overwhelmed already! I keep reminding myself that my first lab quiz was practice and that it is my end grade that counts. :wink2: Good Luck everyone!
First unit was systems and cavities, meaning of the words A&P, history of A&P, negative/positive feedback, characteristics of life, basic stuff like that. Second unit is chemistry - bonds, acids/bases/salts, chemical constituents of cells (eg inorganic and carbohydrates, fats, and proteins).
The next two units are cells and cell metabolism, and, finally, on unit 5, we start Tissues.
If I remember the first time I took it, it felt like we went right into tissues and the integumentary system pretty early on in the course. (used marieb the first time around).
Okay I have a crazy question. I can't exactly pinpoint my learning style. I had my first A&P class yesterday and the memorizing has already begun. So I was wondering if anyone has tried writing the def. over and over again and if so if that worked? I remember in middle school having to write sentences when I got in trouble & hated it, but I never forgot the sentence, so maybe it will work for memorizing definitions? Any suggestions?
