Taking A&P I Fall 2009?

Published

Anyone else taking A&P I this fall? I am taking it, along with four other classes. I'm really nervous because I have heard its extremely difficult! Hopefully those of us taking it this fall can help each other out when we have a question, so please reply here if you're one of the lucky ones haha!

get the REA super review book. subtitled: all you need to know about A&P. Everything you will cover just about paid ten is in that book. I had it inA&P1 class and i rarely opened my text book. I paid 10 bucks for it in the book store at college.

I'm taking Anatomy this coming fall along with three other classes, one of those classes being Micro so yes I'm dreading it!

I was going to go to an LVN program and then go back for my RN but I was notified on Friday that if I go to local community college instead I can get a full pell grant. So I'm rethinking my options.

Tomorrow is the last day to sign up for classes. My adviser says I can either jump straight in and take A and P or take a freshman biology and then A and P.

How many of you are jumping right into the A and P? I've been out of school for quiet a while so I don't won't to overload myself right away but then again I don't want to waste time and A and P is a required course. Freshman Bio is not.

Advice?

I'm taking AP right away. Some teachers in my school recommend biology before which is not even a prereq. I think that if you study and work hard, you'll do great in AP. If it is not a pre-req, you really don't "need" it and would probably only help some. Gen bio also includes all kinds of stuff like evolution and all this stuff which you won't need for AP... which is a waste of time, I think.

That's how I feel about it too. I hate to waste my time on classes that aren't Pre-Reqs.

I guess I'll just dive right in then!

OMG! You are nuts! I took AP 1 along with a life science class online at the same time. It was VERY intense! Plan to spend at least 3 hours for every hour you are in class studying. Join a study group- try different ways to study until you find what works for you.

Good luck!!!

Joining this thread :yeah:as of last night. I squeaked in at the last minute after they opened up 25 more seats.

Just checked the CC and the tuition and book charges are pending, so they got my online registration and my faxed book order. I am in.

Class starts Monday - I will have to live w/o books for the first week.

I am hoping the UPS truck will bring my books by Weds or Thurs.

I have not had a class this hard in about 8 yrs. I took A&P 1 and 2 back in 93-94, and I am hoping some of it is still in my brain. I was so nervous and noncommittal about taking it - I have time, I could have waited til next term, and I don't know if I will use it in time (my kids are still young and if I go to NS it won't be for 3 more yrs, if I go then), but I decided its better to be ready for an opportunity that may or may not come than be unprepared and have to pass an opportunity by. My back-up plan (instead of doing Respiratory or BSN) is to do an accredited CMA program and work for a while til my kids get older - won't need this A&P for it, but I am sure it will be useful regardless.

I stared at the registration screen for quite some time last night before doing my final click. I feel better now that I have done it. As nervous as I am, it feels much better to be signed up for the class than it did wondering about it.

Week one of my A&P class is done, onward to week two! I'm taking general bio along with it, so I'm getting double trouble lol. So far its been a bunch of chemistry which I loathe. Its a necessary evil though, I suppose. My A&P instructor is fantastic. Very reassurring and helpful at every turn so I am extremely lucky!!

This fall I'm taking A&P I, Pyschopathology and Spanish 101

First day of class was Monday. I don't think it is going to be as bad as I thought. The instructor seems really good and my lab group is amazing!! We have already set up a study group, have everyone's email and they all seem so on top of it. I was afraid I would get stuck with a few lazy ones but we all really mesh quite well in our little group already.

I am actually excited to go to class again tonight. :D I think I might be losing my mind. :p

What does the lab consist of?

What does the lab consist of?

The first day was just going over the syllabus and lab safety but what I gathered is that we will be looking at tons of slides, dissecting a fetal pig, cow heart (I think) and cat and identifying various things within them. We all work together as a group to answer the questions in our lab manual and each of us will have a specific task to accomplish. (ie getting the supplies, getting the specimen, doing the cutting, cleaning up, writing things down, organizing, etc)

The test will be several stations set up throughout the lab room and we will have to walk around to each station and identify whatever is labeled. There will be different slides to identify, different specimens to identify, etc.

Hope that helps! I will probably be able to come back and give more details after my class tonight where we will actually be doing something in there other than just hearing about lab safety and how to use an eyewash station. :p
