Anyone else taking A&P I this fall? I am taking it, along with four other classes. I'm really nervous because I have heard its extremely difficult! Hopefully those of us taking it this fall can help each other out when we have a question, so please reply here if you're one of the lucky ones haha!
HI, I am doing A & P I this Fall. My classes started and it's not that bad maybe because I just did Biology of human Organism this summer. Other subjects I am doing are Developmental Psychology, English Comp II, and Spanish I(these ones are online). In Ist week of January I will have my TEAS test. Good Luck to all.
A&P is really not as bad as everyone says it is. I was so nervous like everyone else was and I took both A&P 1 and 2 both with lab in the summer back to back and I passed A&P 1 with an A and A&P 2 with a B. You do have to study a lot and I have respect for those of you taking more than one other class. Having it in the full semester should be much easier than 5 weeks like I had. I also though A&P 2 was a little bit harder. Good Luck all of you.----Kelli
I just started A&P....is it me or does this class move super fast? My teacher kinda stink...he puts his notes up and just reads from them. I was so excited to take this class and still am but the chemical stuff I find so difficult. Also we are dissectin sheep brain and cow eye. What about you guys?
We're using Seeley's Principles of A&P (1st ed.)! So far the book is pretty good and they have tons of online resources as well, including animations and games, which has been super helpful. My instructor is one of the best at the college - has a very high retention rate (not too many people drop). I'm heading into week 4 and so far we have nailed chapter 2 (chemistry) and after this week we'll have finished chapter 3 (cells), next chapter is tissue. So far we've spent 2 weeks (4 lectures and 2 labs) on each chapter, which I think has been helpful becuase this is some tough material! I'm taking BIO111 as well to satisfy the science requirement of my program and I knew taking BIO alongside A&P would be tough but so far it hasn't been TOO bad because the same things we're learning in A&P we're actually learning in BIO right now. That will soon change, I realize - but for now it's actually helping me to take them both at the same time lol. I had a really hard time the first week or two, with the whole chemistry aspect of it, because I haven't even thought about chemistry since high school when I failed chemistry. :/ So that was a challenge for sure. Now that we're past that and we're into cells and DNA, it's more interesting for me and I LOVE lab. We got to do an experiment where we actually got to see the DNA (we used crushed strawberries and alcohol). That was so fascinating. We also watched some Nova videos in class called Cracking the Code. I highly recommend anyone to watch those for a great overview on DNA. Our first lexture exam is next week! Good luck to all of you!
Haven't started A&P yet but brought the book. We're using Fundamentals of Anatomy and Physiology (8th edition) by Martini.
That's the same book we're using. I got the 7th ed. though cause I found a student from my school who had it and only wanted $50 and my prof said they're not that different.
My prof sucks. She's nice and all, but she isn't teaching us. In fact, she told us that she was gonna have us learn the first two chapters on our own/in our small groups she made for us, then take a test on them, and she'll go over the material after that. Lab is hard too. By October 1st we have to have the skull memorized, location and spelling!

I have a great instructor as well. We are using Hole's and it just so happens she is one of the co-authors! Her teaching style is great and I love having her for both the lecture and the lab.
Here's a great website that gives you an idea on what your learning style is. My instructor had us do this and it really does help. It gives you study guides for each type of learning style you may use.
