Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!
What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?
I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.
I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.
Hope everyone is well!
xo,
Jen
Dude Jen, YES. I feel you on that. I was nearly in tears because I can't get over an 87 in med term because I botched one of the exams and it's so competitive. Without the points of the A I could have had, that could put me waitlisted a semester or more and people that aren't in the process just can't understand.
I'm so tired. And I'm also really tired of people telling me "a B is a great grade, stop making such a big deal about it". A B is a perfectly fine grade, that's true. But not when you're competing against 500 other people for one of the 100 open spots. This process is stressful.
YAASSS. I totally feel you... I got a B in Chem because I bombed the OChem exam. I was devastated. Not getting an A bumps my points down making me less competitive and a lesser chance at getting into my number 1 choice program.

I know how you feel. I was a 4.0 student-- all A's With 60 credit hours finished, until I got my first B- in Gen Chem 1. I tell myself it's no big deal but it still kinda hurts. That brought my cumulative GPA down to a 3.89.
Hello all, this summer I am taking Stats and Psychology. It has been a roller coaster ride these past few weeks. My fiancé and I recently got our own place & moved in, I also started a new full-time job, and summer classes started as well, ALL AT THE SAME TIME. I am so overwhelmed. I'm wondering how are you all juggling work while taking classes?

A B may be a perfectly fine grade for most people, but it is a huge deal when competition is so fierce! Before I decided to switch to nursing, I had a hard time understanding why my pre-nursing friends were always so stressed out. Now that I have made the switch, I understand completely! I am going above and beyond in my psych class right now and I am terrified to take A&P II/Stats.
On top of that, my school changed their points system. On the old application, provided I was able to get max points for the areas that applied to me, I would be applying with a 90/100. With the update, I max out at 84/100. Of course, every applicant is experiencing a major drop in points, but I still feel like I need to get A's in psych, A&P II, Stats, and score at least a 90 on the TEAS. It's so frustrating.
Ya'll. My chem professor let us out early today - which never happens. Not 5 minutes after we were released, the campus called my phone and left this message:
An ARMED and DANGEROUS individual at large on or near the campus. If you are on campus and you can leave safely, do so immediately. If you cannot leave safely, go into the nearest available room, lock and barricade the door, turn off the lights, be very quiet. Call Dispatch 485-0099 if you know the shooter's location and it is safe for you to call. Be prepared to fight for your life if you are found by the shooter. Use anything you can as a weapon to defend yourself. If you are not on campus, stay away. This threat is real and imminent! Follow instructions from college officials or local authorities.
The campus is locked down. I'm totally safe and home, but I'm a little shook. The suspect was shot, as were two cops.

I just finished my math and micro also. Needless to say math class definitely had me on edge. Good luck to you!
