Hi there! This thread is for anyone, anywhere that wants to chat about summer courses they are taking. This is our THIRD iteration of semester chat!
What's your schedule like this summer? Any TEAS or HESI preppers?
I'm taking three courses over 5 weeks. Texas Government (online), Chem II (lecture only, on campus) and Music Appreciation (online). School starts for me on June 6, ends July 7.
I'm also taking the TEAS on May 30th, so I'm prepping for that. And all my nursing school applications are due on August 1, so I'm working on that, too.
Hope everyone is well!
xo,
Jen
Yay!! Go Jen, go! You can do it! haha :) But really, I bet you're going to feel amazing at the end of next week! I just got home from my second round of exams in A&P II. We had both our lecture exam and lab practical today over the circulatory/cardiovascular/lymphatic/immune systems. I got 100% on the practical and a 98% on the lecture exam! Woohoo! :)Tomorrow we start our next unit, which is respiratory, urinary, and water/electrolytes/pH. I still have 4 more weeks left of this class, 4 exams and 4 more quizzes, and I.AM.SO.TIRED. I think after my hellish spring semester of Micro, Chem, and A&P I, where I literally took 23 exams and 33 quizzes over the course of those 16 weeks, my brain is just exhausted. I need a break. Plus I'm working full-time right now and working with PT/starting to train again so that just adds to my exhaustion. What I'm really looking forward to is August 25... the day I take my TEAS. After that all I have left to take is Patho. So even with still working full-time this fall, the thought of only having to take 1 class in addition to that sounds like absolute heaven. lol
Dang girl! You're gonna have to spill your study routine. How many hours did you put in for micro, Chem, A&P2? Like 5-6 hours or more a day?

Oh God, no I definitely didn't study that much. haha Tbh I usually only study the day before an exam and review the morning of... with Chem I only put in about 1-2 hours of studying the morning of the exams and with Micro and A&P I would say I studied an average of 4 hours for each exam? Both for the lecture and lab practicals. Except for our immunology unit in Micro. I studied for a solid 2 days for that exam. I work 2 jobs as well so I definitely wouldn't have been able to put in that many hours of studying. I rarely sleep as it is. lol
I'm studying a bit more for A&P II due to the amount of information covered in just 8 weeks. I've been making flashcards after class every day for the material we went over (done with class at 11:00 and don't have work until 2:00) and then I take the flashcards with me to work and review them in my downtime. I usually review for my practicals at work as well. We have both our lecture exams and lab practicals on the same day though so I just make sure that I request off of work the day before and I'll take that day to review everything. :)
Hey all!
I'm still working on my prerequisites for accelerated nursing. I finished Anatomy and Physiology I with a B, Anatomy and Physiology II with an A, and just finished Microbiology with a B. I'm taking Statistics and Developmental Psychology now, and I will be all done August 1st!! The applications for accelerated nursing in my area open in August and September. I'm so happy to finally be finishing up prerequisites!! :)
I didn't do too hot on my Chem exam yesterday - I got a 70. I have to bust my a*s to get an A now. I hate when grades are based almost entirely on exams (75%). I do great on the homework, and I'm studying, but the material is just coming so fast (a chapter a day). I need to study smarter. Two tests to go, and I need to make a 95 on each to get that A. I hope I can pull it off.
That's just one of those things you have to deal with on online classes. All of my classes except the sciences were online and I used to get really annoyed by the posts I was supposed to interact with. They lacked depth and very few seemed to grasp what was being asked. After the first few weeks, I'd find the few students that seemed to take this stuff as seriously as I did, and just reply to them. Hang in there!Lizzie - congratulations!
I'm hanging in there. 1.5 more weeks and I'm DONE for 5 months. I'm really ready for next Friday. I have 3 tests in Chem with 3 more homework assignments, then my final. In Music Appreciation I have 2 more assignments, 4 quizzes and a paper (no final, yay!), and for Government I have 2 quizzes and a paper. The final for that class is optional, and my grade is a 96 right now, so I probably won't bother to take it.
I can see the light at the end of the tunnel! I can't wait to have some time off to just chill (and anxiously await my application decisions) before life gets crazy with a nursing program!
Thank you Jen for your words of encouragement! I will definitely keep putting my best foot forward and hopefully, one way or the other, my professor will recognize my efforts.
Congrats on almost being done! From what I have read, you have worked hard and a 5 month break is more than deserved!
Physio will be done on Thursday. Just trying to push through to the end. I need an 89 on the final to get an A- in the lecture (3 unit class). I have an A in the physio lab (2 units). Anatomy starts next Thursday (6 week course), and I need to get an A. I'm a third of the way through Developmental Psych, which is an easy A. TEAS is set for August. Last prereq is Micro. The prof is supposed to be tough. Ugh. Application goes in in October. I think I can. I think I can. Good luck everyone!
Where are people think of applying to? I hope to attend San Diego State for a second bachelors, but they get 1000 apps for 40 spots. Average admit has a 3.93 overall, a 4.0 in pre-reqs, and a 91 on TEAS, so the competition is fierce.
Hey everyone! I just finished taking math probability and statistics and also microbiology for the summer. I am actually waiting to hear back from Desales University's nursing program in Pa. I have a good GPA and have taken more than enough prerequisites but i am so nervous and excited at the same time. For those enrolled into nursing programs, how is it going so far?
