what do the students call you?

I just started orientation as a sub nurse, and the other nurses go by Miss or Mrs ::last name::.

I'm pretty young (early 20's) and my last name can be kind of hard to pronounce. I was thinking of just telling the students to just call me by my first name or Miss ::first name:: if they want to/have to use a formal title.

I'm not really big on formalities, the way I see it is that we're all people here. No need to call me Mrs or Miss. However I do realize this may not go over well in a structured school environment.

what do your students call you? Should I just go with what everyone else goes by? I feel like it would be strange having high schoolers call me miss :last name:: when I'm not that much older than them..

Howard Butt started a grocery store chain here in Texas in early 1900 - HEB - maybe you're related to him too.

Cool! Good to know! I would love to do some digging into my history.

I go by my first name because it feels too weird to be called by my last name and also I don't think a bunch of elementary school kids can say Nurse Herrera.

I'm in my mid 20's and go by Nurse (first name) if that helps :)

Here's a new one, but I love it.

High Kid, slurring: Do you know what you are? DO YOU?!

Me: I can hardly wait to hear this...

HK(s): YOU are the WICKED WITCH OF THE WEST!!!

I would have replied, "Well yes, yes I am!". At least that's what I tell my children! :roflmao:

I go by Nurse (First Name). Seems to work well!
