I am so tired of certain students who break the rules ALL the time and always seem to get away with it!!!
We are at a rehab hospital now for our 4th clinical site and the rules are we are not aloud to leave the premises for ANY reason. And there is no smoking ANYWHERE on the grounds. well needless to say the students who always seem to break the rules did so again and left the facility and drove off - came back and then LIED to where they have been. After one of the students even said they had left and that the instructor knew they left (lie).
It is so frustrating knowing the same ones break the rules over and over and nothing is done. why have the rules in the first place?
of course one of these students is the same person who took the test bank questions and printed them up and handed them out to students - he cheated, stole, and lied and NOTHING, again NOTHING was done.
Im so tired of it - I feel nursing is a TRUSTING profession and these liars and cheats are just being ignored.:angryfire

There was alot of those type of people when I went to school and it all caught up to them. When it came time to test out so that they could graduate. Guess what? They failed! Not only that but eventually they did not pass clinical elvaluations either. Dont worry about those people because they wont be able to pass NCLEX if they are cheaters so it will be a complete waste of money and time for them in the long run. Focus on yourself and get good grades and try to do as many procedures as you can and you will be fine.

Worry about yourself. Who cares about them? And if you do, why?
They really don't matter.

There seems to be one or two who always break the rules. The best thing for you to do is to concentrate on your studies and your experiences. I found that to be the easiest way when I was in school. Really, how far are they going to get? When it comes to taking the NCLEX, they will not be able to cheat to make their way through the exam and probably have a very dim future in nursing.
Stay focused and stay postive :)

As the others said, forget about them and worry
about yourself. Once you graduate, you'll meet
nurses who do the same things. I refuse to let other
people's issues take up space in my head (I have
enough of my own issues, thank you!)

We had students like that in our class also. And the same thing they always got away with all the crap they did. Did not wear proper uniforms, left clinical site for lunch-dinner when they were not supposed to, came in late all the time to lecture and clinicals, and the instructors always seemed to believe thier crappy stories(lies). I told my self they will never hold a job doing that, well slap in the face to me one of those classmates did get a job at the hospital I had gone on 2 interviews for (i did not get the position, "said person "got a diff position) because "said person" "knew" ppl on the floor. Eventually karma will come around to them, in the meantime we have morals and will continue to abide by the rules.

Don't worry about the actions of other students and classmates, as I am confident that you've got better things to do with your time and energy. If you are following the rules and providing safe patient care while at clinicals, then there's nothing (or nobody else) else to worry about.
This behavior will not stop once you leave school. In the workplace, you'll find that some nurses are able to get away with breaking the facility rules, while other nurses are austerely punished for minor infractions. While nursing is supposed to be 'nonjudgmental' in the textbooks, the real world of nursing is very judgmental and punitive. Nurse managers judge, and coworkers judge. Based on this judging, they punish some people while allowing bad behavior from others over and over again. Life is unfair, and the nursing profession is definitely not immune to this degree of unfairness.
Just ensure that you do the right thing for you and your patients.

Leaving a clinical site without premission is nothing to get bent out of shape for and also people who smoke anywhere..

Let's hope if those people graduate that they don't do the same on the job.
When you are at school, there are rules..When you are work, rules like these will not exist..
Who's to say that behavior in school will not be repeated when school is done?

In the program that I was in, you would have been kicked out of the program for either offense, for good reason.
