Hello!
Anyone who is applying to Sam Houston's fall 2015 nursing program is welcomed on this thread. Me and one other person had a conversation going on Sam Houston's Fall 2014 thread, but we decided to make our own. Please comment if you are applying! We were talking about TEAS scores, GPA, and other things on the other page and want to continue to talk about anything related to SHSU's nursing program on this page. Please make an account and comment/ask questions/share what you know about the program so we can get a good conversation going. Advisors are helpful, but so is this website, and, of course, other nursing students! :) Thanks.
Hello. This is my first post on here...so here it goes.
I plan on applying for fall 2015 and met with an advisor today. They said competative gpa is 3.6 overall and in pre nursing requirements. 76 on teas also seems to be the mark. It's weighted 60% on gpa 40% on teas plus extra points if you completed at least 24 credits at Sam.
They have a pre nursing gpa calculator on the website which is handy.
Good luck to all, and I hope to see you in August.
Hello! I am also applying to Sam Houston Nursing school for the Fall but I am currently doing my pre-requisites at Lone Star ! I was talking to an adviser at Sam Houston and he told me that my GPA of 3.8 and TEAS score of 77 are both competitive. I selected the Main Campus location just because I feared the pool of 20 applicants. I'm a bit nervous because the program is new and its hard to find information about it. I also heard a rumor that the main campus nursing school will be moving to Conroe. Does anybody know if that is true? Also do you guys know where they have their clinicals?
Since today (June 15th) is the deadline for the fall 2015 program, does anyone know how many applicants have applied to either locations? I'm really anxious about whether or not I will be accepted. I have a prerequisite GPA of 3.42 and made a 85 on the TEAS V exam. If it is true that they are on a 100 point scale, consisting of 60 points towards GPA and the other 40 towards your TEAS V, then the formula would be: (3.42/4)60+(85/100)40. And it equals an 85. So just plug your own score and gpa in and you'll see how you stand. I now wish I had applied to other schools; however, I really thought I would have no problems getting in, but now that I read all of the threads, I do not feel so confident...
