Hello!
Anyone who is applying to Sam Houston's fall 2015 nursing program is welcomed on this thread. Me and one other person had a conversation going on Sam Houston's Fall 2014 thread, but we decided to make our own. Please comment if you are applying! We were talking about TEAS scores, GPA, and other things on the other page and want to continue to talk about anything related to SHSU's nursing program on this page. Please make an account and comment/ask questions/share what you know about the program so we can get a good conversation going. Advisors are helpful, but so is this website, and, of course, other nursing students! :) Thanks.
Do you know which GPA they use? So, the calculation for points earned would look like (GPA/4)*45? I guess it does not matter since I don't have anything to compare it to. I am not sure what is considered competitive since they have such a broad requirement posted.
I currently go to Lone Star.
Wow, I didn't realize they only accepted 20 students at The Woodlands campus! Unfortunately, because the program is so new, I haven't been able to get much information out of previous applicants. I have a 3.5 overall GPA and 88 TEAS. I don't really feel like that is competitive enough for 20 spots! Does anybody know how many people applied for fall 2014?
They use your overall not your science GPA. I'm am curious to see how many applied for the spring at the woodlands as well, don't know if I would have a better chance there. My advisors said to shoot for 80 on the teas, and that a good overall GPA to have is not less than a 3.4. Try searching fall 2014 shsu and there is a whole convo about all that kind of stuff. It's how I found out some of my info. There is also another old blog: spring 2015 shsu. I would read through those conversations because they are also helpful and people were talking about what GPA and teas score they got in with. This spring semester is the first nursing cohort at the woodlands. They havnt had a fall cohort yet. Fall 2015 will be the first.
Hi all! I too wish to apply for Fall 2015 as well! I saw in the comment above by @acw038 that they go by your overall GPA. just trying to get a clear understanding, do they not consider your science gpa for admissions? in my case that would be a good thing. my overall happens to be a bit higher than my science.
Hey everyone! I will be applying for Fall 2015, however I feel like it may be a long shot for me because my GPA is on the lower end. I have not taken my TEAS test yet either so I'm not sure how that will go! I'm finishing up my last two prereqs this semester. I just barely decided to apply for the Fall program and was originally planning on waiting until Spring 2016 so I feel like I may be a bit behind the rest of you, but good luck to everyone applying!

My TEAS score was not on there, but it states that if you took the test at Sam you do not need to resubmit a score. They will pull it from their records.
By chance do you know the points scale they use?
