student loans

Published

My packet went to the board for this month and was accepted. I am going to commision on Tuesday. Does my total of my student loans that is going to be paid back need to be written in my contract? The recruiter is telling me that information will need to be given to the unit that I am being assigned. Just want to have all the facts before Tuesday. Thanks

Well, Edie, you got me before it got edited out. I guess privacy is a good thing, however, I never knew I had any (I HAVE been to MEPS already..ahhahaha). Anyway, I just got a call from my recruiter today that my LORs from my supervisors arent good enough because they do not directly state that they were my direct supervisors while I was employed by them. It says "Kelly worked in my unit from...." and then signed "XYZ, Clinical Director, X Unit". Seems to me that should be enough...so now I am IRRITATED to say the least. Plus Im sleep deprived. Hopefully I can call my former supervisors and say 'the letter you so graciously took time out of your busy schedule and wrote for me, isnt good enough. Can you please rewrite it please??'

Sorry for the rant, I just needed to get it out.

Kelly,

Did you not get a form from your recruiter? Mine gave me mine, and it was all check marks, and that was it. Call and ask. Makes the references easier.

Cathy

Cathy,

Did you submit any actual Letters of rec or did you just have these 'check' forms turned in?

Do you know the DA form number for those?

Thanks!

Kelly,

The supervisor recs are forms with checkboxes...if you need them I will forward them to you. I think your recruiter is smoking something funny!

ArmyRN2B,

I had 2 documents from "each" supervisor or reference:

1. USAREC 1212 form for the 8A identifier (ICU) in a checklist format.

2. Personal letter, on Company "letterhead" stating competency and years (hours) of work in that unit.

I had to "redo" one of the letters because it was not my direct supervisor. Then I had to add another one, because my recruiter used it as a "friend" reference letter. It seemed like I had 7 or 8 letters of reference & 5 form 1212's !

hope this helps,

cindy

No I didnt get ANYTHING like that. Nothing with checkboxes, no sample letters, no NOTHING. I will be unhappy if this holds me up from going to the board in November. Im ready for all this hullaballoo to be OVER with..lol.

I emailed my supervisors that wrote my letters and asked them to fax an addendum to the letter saying they were my direct supervisor. Im not sure why they would even bother, as they've already gone out of their way to help me. I cant help but wonder why "Kelly was employed on my unit from ____ until _____. Then it is signed, " Joe Blow, RN, Clinical Director of XYZ unit". That seems like it should work. I just dont get it.

I just turned in the ones they had to check. I did have to turn in something from my travel company that I worked at last year, and the company that I am at now to verify my critical care hours. That had to be on company letterhead.

How many Critical Care hours did you need to get the ICU identifier??

Kelly,

I just thought of something on your supervisor forms. When did you have your sups fill them out? The Army updated that particular form for July 08. My recruiter contacted me and told me that I needed to have them submitted again but on the proper form since. Is this what you are running into perchance?

As far as the critical care identifier goes I am thinking that it is around 1600 hours, I can't remember exactly. It has to be submitted on letter-head by your employer.

I didnt start the whole packet building process until Sept 08. So Im thinking that my recruiter doesnt know about the checklists or whatever. I dont know. Im just very frustrated. Thanks for the # of hours too. I just started so I dont have nearly enough..lol. But I might before my bf gets back from Iraq.
